New Android Build?
New Android Build?
Hi all,
Just noticed this blog posting on someone who's found a new android build for the joggler, basically looks similar/same to swift's BUT with the added addition of having the home/back button in the titlebar rather than a wierd swipe..
Unfortunatly the download url from china has expired but I've asked him for a link to an image.

Now that we have the amazon app store, and plenty others I think android might work better for the device...

Oh my giddy aunt!
Just when I thought Android on the Joggler was a dead duck.
Thanks very much for sharing the link. I don't think I'll be able to stop myself from giving this a go.

Re: New Android Build?
I eventually gave up on Android for the Joggler the last time I tried it, everything FC'd & the Market wouldn't connect. Hope this one turns out better!

Oh @dwl99, re market, now we have the amazon market as well as the google market I dont think we have a problem.. Also looking at xda-developers for my HTC Legend you can easily get hold of GAPPS (google apps) as a seperate download.. soooooo providing the soft buttons work well and its not a dud release I think it might work well...

Re: New Android Build?
It took me a while to work it out too, lol
It's not the "big green button with the down arrow" you'd think it was, but the smaller "green arrow with a grey line below it" button a couple of inches to it's left

If anyone is still stuck, it looks like there's now a more obvious download link...

Re: New Android Build?
Is it possible to change the default language? I've loaded it up but now I'm struggling.
----EDIT----
I was struggling because I've never used Android before but I (eventually) found the language selection. I clicked on the grid icon on the taskbar and then clicked on the lower left icon which brought up a menu with the language selection somewhere on the list. I'm making it sound easy but I think I clicked on hundreds of obscure icons before finding the right option.

Re: New Android Build?
Been running Android 2.2 on one of my Joggers for sometime now but Market always FCs. Anyone got a known working Market.apk ?
Re: New Android Build?
ahhh yes! took me a while,
steps, from the main screen go to the apps page (icon with lots of dots)
- settings, round blue icon with a silver bit inside with arrow upwards
- within here it should say lots of chinese (except "ethernet configuration")
- scroll down to icon which is a letter A with three dots.
- top option is language select
then reboot
and voila...
im currently trying to work out how to put google apps & google market onto it... amazon market wont work

Re: New Android Build?
Android working!
Steps
1. go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209 and download the gtablet.zip zip file
2. go to http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6993309/Dropbox.apk and download and install the dropbox application
3. create a drop box acccount
4. Extract all the files in gtablet and upload them to dropbox
5. using the native android dropbox application download/install the apps in the following order
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
OneTimeInitializer.apk
SetupWizard.apk
Talk.apk
Vending.apk
Gmail.apk
Maps.apk
reboot device then sign up and voila all works....
Not all apps work though, and because the market doesnt recognise the joggler its restricting the apps..
Above I suggested using dropbox to get the apps on the joggler, an alternative is to setup a http server (apache or iis for example ) on a localpc and browse to that url e.g for me i did http://192.168.0.200/androidapps but dropbox appears to work easier..
also having a dropbox account means if you find a apk which isnt on the market, you simlpy download it via ur pc and upload to drop box
enjoy
anyway.. gotta go and do some diy!
ciao

Re: New Android Build?
Is this a different build from the Chinese one that was in the old forum?

Re: New Android Build?
Hmm, sounds very like the one I gave up on!
Re: New Android Build?
Well, the new one seems to be working after a few hiccups. Wifi often does not reconnect on startup but I'm trying Wefi to fix that. Applanet works better than the official Market. Anyone know how to turn it off without pulling the plug?
Re: New Android Build?
Nb to all I've updated the wiki with this info http://www.jogglerwiki.com/wiki/Android
