Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
sounds good to me.
It's now available in the main repository, so should just be installable. previous xbmc is still available too.

Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Forgive my ignorance, but can Kodi be installed on Ubuntu Base version without desktop or superfluous stuff installed (ie in the same way SQPos works)?
Is everything I'd need in the image (gfx/sound drivers etc)? Hooking up a keyboard/mouse etc isn't a problem and I know how to configure networking via terminal when it boots up into terminal.
I just don't want to launch into the process of trying to install Kodi if I'm going to come unstuck because of a lack of a desktop/sound/gfx drivers.

Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Mr offbeatdave , I too would like a build of Kodi built on base
If you look on the XBMC thread BuZz explains how to install a minimum desktop to his base build I believe , it would be great if we could have this with the network connection / wireless stuff that was in the xbmc os , I off to school / work run now but I'll try hunt out the thread later .
If you get this going Dave would you be willing to share an image of it please

Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Great
Regarding the base image , BuZz said this on his site
"The Base/Server images can be used as a base to build/customise your own desktop or as a "utility" image for other purposes. eg - sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends lubuntu-desktop would install a minimal lxde desktop. The base image is smaller than the other images and can fit on a 2gb USB stick."
Does that help

Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Gave up on this. Too taxing for my little brain. Returned to running Kodi from Xubuntu as an auto-starting app.offbeatdave wrote:Will happily share any success I may (or may not) have!

Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Yup; here the Illiac build of XBMC did work fine with the wireless. I was able to fit the build on the Openpeak II device except that it filled up right away. When trying with the new Kodi build; I could get the icons and stuff and even saw area wireless devices but that was just about it.
Easiest way is just to utilize BuZz's build.
The pièce de résistance is to remove the combination wireless bluetooth card on the Openpeak II and replace it with a broadcom crystal hd card. Worked fine with my XBMC testing a while back.
Codecs:
H.264/AVC HP at L 5.1 1080p/1080i, 40 Mbps
SMPTE VC-1 AP at L 3 1080p/1080i, 40 Mbps
WMV9 (VC-1 SP and MP)
MPEG-2 MP @ ML and HL, 80 Mbps
DivX 3.11, 4.1, 5.X, 6.X, XviD

Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Small question, can Kodi from your repo be installed on lucid ?
Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Sorry, no.
Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
but in general kodi can be installed on lucid ?
Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Team Kodi do not support Lucid afaik - it may be possible to get it to work, but it would require a lot of backported requisites - Lucid has also reached End Of Life.
Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Ok... I'm running Gotham on SqueezePlay OS 1.03(based on 10.04) from internal flash it is running good but more staff is released for kodi. I tried to adopt old kernel to new SqueezePlay OS but without success... It would be great to have kodi running from internal flash. I could launch it on last SqueezePlay OS from emmc but without hardware acceleration.
Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
I can't help with that - nor do I recommend using the internal flash. If you want to run Kodi, you can run xubuntu off a small usb3 stick (which is much quicker than the internal flash too). You could try and make a cut down image from the ubuntu base image perhaps, but it's not something I have interest in doing.
Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Not sure if this is actually a joggler issue, or whether it should really go to the Kodi or Plex forums, but...
I'm running Kodi 14.2 on a recent (last but one, I think) BuZz Ubuntu system. The server is Plex, running on an old Mac mini, because I need live transcoding for another client on the network. Most files are Apple Lossless, a few WAVs and quite a lot of AACs.
The problem: Kodi won't play the AAC files via DLNA. If I copy them to the joggler, they play fine. Otherwise I get
Any ideas?
Update 16/11/15: no idea why, but updating Kodi to 15.2 sorted this. Just in case someone googles this post...

Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
It's unlikely to be joggler specific.
Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
Makes sense. Thanks BuZz. Off to the Kodi bearpit then...

Re: Kodi (Formerly XBMC) Dev/Beta Builds
It can't be done on Samsung as it uses Tizen OS .
Also you have found yourself at the Kodi specifically for Joggler thread and need to have a look at the Kodi forums for any help .
I think you'll need an Android box or similar .
