Re: EMGD driver and screen tearing

I can't answer your question, but I am interested. Is version 1.18 the version that comes with BuZz's distros or have you installed this ? I know from the past that BuZz has stated that there are some serious issues with EMGD and later versions of the Linux kernel (not 100% on this). Also I remember...

Re: Meet the Jogglers

Maybe the designer would like to join this forum and we could have customised avatars ! That would be good, design your own Joggler avatars. Then that would be another Joggler family. Seems you've already done that Stan 'Hawesy' Joggler ! :-)

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Many thanks for the latest versions BuZz. The base has been working fine for me. Put it onto a MyMemory 128GB USB3.0 stick and no problems so far. Updates ok and for what I've asked it to do, not had any problems at all. Don't think I've tried the Xubuntu though. I have an earlier version with a lot...

Re: Meet the Jogglers

Brilliant. Never recall seeing this being used though. I did some google foo and came up with this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08kOfSC5LEo and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joggling Never knew that before. Guess it helps to take the monotony out of exercise and increase A&E waiting times ! Pag...

Re: I2C Bus Hardware question?

The website you got some the pictures from (http://www.sunspot.co.uk/Projects/Joggler/i2c.html) appears to indicate having some success on connecting an i2c slave device to the Joggler's PCB near to the SILABS F311 chip. Appears that getting the right voltages has been an issue for sunspot. If I was...

Re: Wanted - Failed Joggler

Would you be able to share the details of the problem and any work you do on your Joggler ? It's possible that you may not need a spare joggler. Or is it pretty serious ? I've noticed that the price of working jogglers is dropping a bit. Some people may place jogglers on ebay, who try them after not...

Re: Best USB stick for Joggler?

Saw this today on HUKD : http://www.7dayshop.com/products/grixx-usb-3-0-flash-drive-64gb-WH2-GRUSB64GBALUU3 £12.99 for a 64 GB usb 3 stick, with free delivery. Seems to have a reasonable speed too. So should hopefully max out the Joggler's usb 2 ! HUKD page is : http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/64-gb...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Error, hawsey - good to see your both interested. It is a great project and is a good use for a joggler, if your using it for other things as well. I did set-up an access point on a joggler some time ago and for the little bit of time I used it it worked well. As I'd like to give you the best direct...

These are the best links I can find for I2C on the joggler : http://www.jogglerwiki.com/wiki/Connecting_to_the_i2c_bus http://www.sunspot.co.uk/Projects/Joggler/i2c.html https://github.com/buserror/minifs/blob/master/conf/board/joggler/linux-2.6.33.4/joggler-i2c-fix-2.6.32-v1.patch Sadly, this appea...

Re: Alternative power supplies

I have alway just thought that it is something to do with the initial surge when starting up. This is just a layman here, can change a fuse justabout. atb ronnie. Startup will require more current than when the Joggler is booted and fairly idle. If, say, a 2A top rated supply is used - and this is ...

Re: Xubuntu 14.04: Any way to *permanently* set default sess

On my joggler now with BuZz's xubuntu,... Command to turn screen off fully is : xset dpms force standby When you press any key / move mouse, screen comes back. Could you hook this command into the x screen saver, if this still works with kodi running ? Command doesn't affect audio, so you'd need to ...

Re: Boot Logos and EFI Types

Not sure if this would be of any help for analysing Joggler(esque) EFI firmware : https://github.com/LongSoft/UEFITool Came across this from a security list email, where the guy is promoting his firmware security blog. There appears to be some interesting articles : http://firmwaresecurity.com/2015/...

Re: Xubuntu 14.04: Any way to *permanently* set default sess

I think the most power-hungry part of a Joggler is the screen. Maybe, if your using the radio and/or the TV, after a certain amount of time you could reduce the brightness right down. Also, because your using X, you can effectively turn the screen off. I think, to do this use the xset command or som...

Re: Alternative power supplies

Well here's my five pence worth. I have tried several of the 'phone charger battery packs (rated between 2 and 2.5 amps) and not one of them has worked, just a white screen at start up. Any power supply rated at 4amps is a winner, I currently (get it?) have a couple of Mean Well supplies. Would wel...

Re: Telio touch stuck on Telio logo

Underpowering the device shouldn't damage it - it just won't work. Joggler's get a white screen when power is supplied into the USB port and not through the normal power input. When I have measured a 5V 4A openpeak supply without load, I get a reading of around 5.65V, I think. A joggler with no othe...

Re: Alternative power supplies

Hi Juggler, Just a couple of quick thoughts... I don't know anything about the Jogglers input over voltage protection, so can't shed any light on that but I'd be surprised if it couldn't handle 5.645v. It occurs to me that your extra 0.65v is very nearly the 0.7v that a silicon diode drops when for...

Re: Backup battery for clock?

You can get little RTC boards with battery and an I2C interface for around a dollar. The joggler has an I2C interface internally. A different website details a project to use the I2C interface. It would then just be a matter of hooking up the RTC board to the right place on the Joggler, and then usi...

Re: Ethernet interface "bouncing"

Just a few thoughts : * is the problem with the network cable ? Try a different one; what's the result ? * is there a dry/damaged joint inside of the Joggler on it's network socket ? You will probably need good eyes and a bright light for this. * get a usb to ethernet dongle and try that on the prob...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

I have a Joggler running Buzz's Xubuntu sitting next to my bed and it's connected to the internet by lan. I'm wondering if it's possible to use the Jogglers wifi as an accesspoint? Yes you can - and it is a good little project too. Plus it can happily run in the background, so you can continue to u...
