It's nothing to do with PnP specifically, just that if your internal memory is a little prone to issues then ANY rebooting could result in it failing to boot up again. Update on progress, this has fixed my issues too, nothing had previously worked, but booting into Mint, deleting the 4 partitions and creating a new one (just accepted the defaults), then using the OpenPeak flash tool worked. It will now consistently boot into the OpenPeak OS. Thanks! I havent tried...

Can't be done, I'm afraid. The kernel in the original OS is not compiled with USB support at boot time. I have seen a kernel config file, so if you fancy running up an Ubuntu 8.04 build system and compiling your own kernel, then swapping that into the original OS and building a new boot partition, ...
