Re: Post Update Tango GUI - random restarts

The worst case I have had was when this happened while running Opera - I ended up with the Opera cursor over the Tango screensaver, but couldn't access either, so the only way to recover was to power off and on. The 'random restart' may be simulated by executing 'killall tango' from the command lin...

The 'SrvrPowerCtrl' LMS plugin might do what you want.

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

I often have this disappearing sound issue and would be willing to test an updated binary. One of my jogglers that is left on continuously often experiences this after a day or so. It's main use is BBC Radio streams, and occasionally music playback from local LMS music library. Apologies, I have be...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Native, Ubuntu & sqpOS)

I've not had the vanishing audio bug for some time now, but I can't see any harm in the patch if it's restarting audio after detecting an error condition. ditto. No signs of harm so far, and I am seeing the expected traces in the log when audio is restarted. One thing that did emerge during testing...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

I haven't determined the cause of the 'dmix' issue. My hunch is a problem within the Alsa library, but I don't know for sure. One thing that appears to resolve it 'on the fly' is to close and reopen the relevant Alsa device. That happens every time a stream with a different sample rate is played ba...

Re: Enabling Telnet access post May update..

still interested, if cybercide's method is working for other users out here, which would be fine already :) Worked with mine. It looks for nvram binary in expected directory on /dev/mmcblk0p2. Conceivably there might be some Jogglers with nothing on that partition, in which case it should be on /de...

Re: New OpenPeak firmware update (30th April 2012)

With effect from today I have noted a new, very unwelcome, start up behaviour on my two jogglers, which were upgraded last week. Both connect wirelessly. Earlier behaviour in this firmware, and the previous firmware, was that the system would: Boot up, and in a few minutes bring up the O2/Openpeak d...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Native, Ubuntu & sqpOS)

Environment: This is running on xubuntu 12.04. Long shot: Wouldn't be 32bit/64bit library issues, would it ? Joggler is a 32 bit system. You don't indicate whether you're running a 32bit or 64bit version. I have heard that a 64bit system may require additional 32bit library support, but I have no p...

Re: Enabling Telnet access post May update..

I have managed to enable telnet on my post May updated Joggler without the need for a keyboard. What a neat way to do it. Just use the 'reflash' OS to set the nvram setting to 'YES' and reboot. I wish I had thought of that. There does appear to have been a behavioural change for that nvram setting ...

Re: Enabling Telnet access post May update..

I am sure I am being really stupid here I doubt it ! - but I have tried to follow mrw's instructions for re-enabling telnet and get as far as booting ubuntu from a USB stick and a login screen, but then I can't login - no keyboard! Yup. I didn't think to mention that fact. Am I supposed to connect ...

Re: Enabling Telnet access post May update..

<snip> Just checked three of my Jogglers that are on OpenPeak. All are on SW 30291 (Oct 1 2011 15:32:26), 2 are on FW 8964 (Boardrev2) and 1 is on FW 8964 (Board rev2 with ID numbers). All telnet in, before and after a reboot. Can you provide an analysis of how it is that telnet starts up when your...

Re: New OpenPeak firmware update (30th April 2012)

Would I be correct in saying that if I want to use the reflashing tool with this firmware version, I just put the 8_O2_Final_Transition_v3 into the reflash directory along with the script? Do i need to make any udpate to the script? I am going to wait until the final release is published: http://ww...

Re: Enabling Telnet access post May update..

I think there may be two updates involved I agree. It was definitely a 'two stage' process. I saw something along the lines you describe. I just let it run. After the second stage, it did start up with telnet enabled, and I logged in at that point and made the telnet 'permanent', for the time being...

Re: Enabling Telnet access post May update..

Hi. ;) Hi . ;) Tad irritating that there seem to be 30291 versions with telnet enabled and 30291 versions without. Well, I do think that it's not the firmware upgrade, but a hitherto unimplemented feature to turn off the nvram setting. I say that because I am getting the issue with my 'not upgraded...

Re: Enabling Telnet access post May update..

Erm, that's the F/W, S/W that's running on my 4 updated Jogglers and telnet works out of the box on all of them! Yup, as it did on mine, for a day. But, trust me, the relevant nvram setting is being reset 'behind my back'. I've seen it on both my pre and post upgrade Joggler, since either the eveni...

Re: Enabling Telnet access post May update..

Few questions: - Has anybody managed to get Telnet access with F/W 8964 and S/W 30291? Yes. - Is there another May update with a different F/W and S/W version (and does Telnet work reliably with that)? I got update 8964/30291 on 10 May. There may have been others, I'm not aware. - mrw: can you prov...

Re: Network name for Joggler

Ben wrote:Any ideas?
I can, and have, set the name in my router's "Home Network" settings. Alternatively you could try editing '/etc/hostname' on the Joggler. I don't know whether that does, in fact, work with the Joggler firmware.
