Re: Ubuntu Bionic for OpenFrame

Does anyone know if it's at all realistic that the EMGD driver could be made to work on this build? It's easy to get Kodi 17 on this build, just install it from the Ubuntu repo, (for some reason the add-ons repository is not included, you need to install kodi-repository-kodi package to get that), bu...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Posting this in case anyone has the same problem I've encountered with Kodi add-ons. This Xubuntu build has served me very well for years to run Kodi for streaming radio and playing audio and decent bitrate/resolution H.264 video off a DLNA server. But the other day the TuneIn radio add-on for Kodi ...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

[quote="BuZz"]I already put this in an email to you that I don't have time to write step by step instructions, but I pointed you to the source and a small build script which just needs to be run. Could you put a link to source and script and anything else of relevance here? I totally appreciate you ...

Re: Boot from USB drive in a USB hub

Ha ha , well try it or don't try it , it's up to you , however unlikely it sounds for some reason the port 4 booting the Os is real and well documented if you look far enough back on the forum . Port 4 will be the forth one from the USB cable input to the Joggler . This seems to be making a very bi...

Re: Boot from USB drive in a USB hub

Plug the boot USB stick in to port 4 of the hub and try again :-) Why would plugging the USB stick in to port 4 make a difference? Does you advice to plug the USB stick in to port 4 apply regardless of how many ports the hub has? How do I know which one is port 4 when my hub, in common with every h...

Boot from USB drive in a USB hub

Is it possible to boot from a USB drive that's connected via a USB hub? I've tried plugging a hub in to the side port and plugging a bootable USB drive in to the hub. When I turn the Joggler on I get the O2 logo for a while, then it boots the stock OS. I know the USB drive is bootable, the Joggler w...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

in Xubuntu, you can switch screen of via light locker. Is there a way to make a "switch screen off" command with a shortcut on the desktop? Sure there is, this is Linux, there's ways to blank the screen from command line and anything that can be run on command line can be called from an icon on the...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Ahh.....curious what you see when you are running two streams at the same time on the Joggler? Well if you invoke with full screen, you see whichever instance of mplayer was invoked last gets displayed on top. So you do $ mplayer -fs vid1.mp4 </dev/null >/dev/null 2>&1 & sleep 5 ; $ mplayer -fs vid...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Yeah what I was doing was typing on the Joggler and just copying what I typed on another computer logged in to the forum. See this is one reason why I do any keyboard interaction with Joggler over SSH. I can just copy/paste commands out of the terminal that I'm logged in to the Joggler on in to a n...

Hi All Is there any chance on getting the ubuntu netbook remix interface on the joggler if so how. Andrew Andrew , I think its called the Unity desktop now It was always called Unity, it just first appeared in the Netbook Remix before it became the default desktop environment in Ubuntu. That Unity ...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Changed it as above to: /home/joggler/mplayer-vaapi/bin/mplayer -fo -vo /home/joggler/test.mov and it played video just fine and very fast. Seems unlikely, given that -fo is not a valid option and /home/joggler/test.mov is not a valid argument for -vo ;) Next tried: /home/joggler/mplayer-vaapi/bin/...

OK did it again using username joggler. Still stuck here at: joggler@joggler:~$ mplayer-vaapi/bin/mplayer -fs -vo vaapi big_buck_bunny_1080p_h264.mov -bash: mplayer-vaapi/bin/mplayer: No such file or directory Did you run "make install"? Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Checked VLC and it was using hardware acceleration. IE: Input / Codecs ==> VA-API video decoder via DRM That means the option to use va-api is selected. Doesn't mean it's working. Updated it anyways ... sudo apt-get install i965-va-driver libva-intel-vaapi-driver vainfo Testing it by typing: vlc --...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

I'm pretty sure that some years ago I used a specially built version of mplayer on Joggler that utilised hardware decoding for H.264. I can't find it in the latest Xubuntu build. Is it still around somewhere? Or is there something similar which will play H.264 using the hardware decoding? I tried in...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Thought someone might find this info about using Joggler in portrait mode useful. Sadly the emgd driver doesn't support on the fly rotation on the fly with xrandr but the driver does allow you to rotate the display using xorg.conf Find the line Option "ALL/1/Port/4/General/Rotation" "0" change to Op...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Here I start by installing it with a keyboard / mouse right on the Joggler. Fine if you have a USB hub to plug in I guess. I don't. Maybe I should get one. Then I'd have to dig out another keyboard and mouse (unplugging the ones from my PC is out of the question due to the routing of the cables), a...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Just dug out my Joggler to play with again and was really pleased to discover you're still doing Xubuntu builds. I downloaded the most recent which seems to work great, thanks. I have a small feature request though. I ssh in to the Joggler so I can use a real keyboard and decent size screen to alter...
