Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Native, Ubuntu & SQPOS)

Without more detail of your set up (plugin used, etc) perhaps this may help.

Re: Shairport OS

Hi David

I am sorry I can't help with the internal image.

I have just spent a few hours trying to get it to work but without any luck. It keeps failing with incorrect checksum, although I'm certain they are the same.

Leaving it now, perhaps someone else can help.

Re: Shairport OS

Hi David

Happy saints day.

The external image has a file called "interfaces".
You can access this on a windows machine and enter your ssid and pasword.
I have just done it and it does work.

Re: Ubuntu Bionic request .

That's OK Pete. Thanks anyway. @Hawsey Gary I have had another go at installing Lubuntu-core. It take well over an hour and then fails with: Setting up libbonoboui2-0:i386 (2.24.5-4) ... Setting up libgnomeui-0:i386 (2.24.5-3.2) ... Processing triggers for libc-bin (2.27-3ubuntu1) ... Processing tri...

Re: Ubuntu Bionic request .

Just tried lubuntu-core.

This failed at 99% with errors with dpkg (I could copy them as I was doing the install on the joggler.
Anyway I rebooted and the desktop came up with a log-in screen but would not accept my password.

That's it for today.

Sorry Gary it's a bit of a downer.

Hi Gary
I have installed xorg (I don't know if that was necessary) and then installed xfce4.
Well this is a bit of a bust, I can install firefox but can't get it to run.

I'll look at another, more complete distro

Re: Ubuntu Bionic request .

Hi Gary I have installed xorg (I don't know if that was necessary) and then installed xfce4. I used a usb hub with a 16gb stick, mouse and keyboard connected to the joggler. Made a user joggler (passwd joggler) It doesn't boot into a desktop, just into cmd line as root. I do su - joggler , then sudo...

Re: Jivelite on Joggler

@ roobarb! I have tried using the Openframe 2 (Cisco) to build on but keep getting an error In the Jivelite build. I'll try again sometime soon. I have used a completed build from the O2 joggler and that works on the Cisco one, so I must be doing something wrong in the build process. The wireless do...

Re: Jivelite on Joggler

I have had to install xinit. Without it, if I just do (whilst connected to the jogger via a hub) sudo /home/joggler/jivelite/bin/jivelite then I get the same thing, a quick flash of the splash screen and that's it :( . The trusty image used to start without adding anything, but the xorg (or just xin...

because if the default user is 'joggler' then Jivelite wants joggler's password to run at boot. I think that's easily fixed though.

I use crontab to autostart Jivelite and it just starts into the full jivelite screen

Re: Jivelite on Joggler

Might also try with a .desktop calling the jivelitestart.sh

Just had a look here

Code: Select all

joggler@openframe:/etc/xdg$ cd autostart
joggler@openframe:/etc/xdg/autostart$ ls
at-spi-dbus-bus.desktop xdg-user-dirs.desktop

Re: Jivelite on Joggler

Followed your startjivelite.sh and did sudo crontab -e @reboot /home/joggler/startjivelite.sh https://www.kompulsa.com/run-a-program-on-startup-console-on-ubuntu-18-04/ It works but the volume on the selected player is very low. I have no idea about that at the mo, everything is set to 100% where it...

Re: Jivelite on Joggler

It's possible to autostart using crontab-e and also via a .desktop file.

The problem I had before was the mouse arrow.

There is lots of info about starting a .sh (its getting the most up to date that's the problem  )

FYI I just had to install xinit

Here's what I've got.

/home/joggler/startjivelite.sh:

Code: Select all

export JIVE_NOCURSOR=1
sudo -E xinit /home/joggler/jivelite/bin/jivelite
have you put the first line shebang in the script?

Re: Jivelite on Joggler

Here is an example that I was given by a user on the wam when I was doing something on a pi. I think it follows the sort of standard text for this type of script. Note, I only think, don't know!! :) :? Hi Ronnie, Superb progress! Well done. Here is how to (elegantly) running it as service (an...
