O2 Joggler Forum

Frustrating day today. I had no intention of fiddling with my jogglers apart from adding a youtube app - which I did in minutes. Unfortunately this lead to a series of events culminating in my bedroom jogger unexpectedly dying. It was my birthday present. It's stuck on the o2 logo despite repeated reflashing with the original 02 & openpeak images which seem to work but then when I reboot, nadda. When I can face it, i'll try roobarb!'s latest image - nothing to lose.

I'm now using it to run sqpos so all is not lost. This is my first casualty...

Cheer up, this happens all the time There's a link somewhere about recovering a bricked joggler, probably on the birdslikewires site, it involves plugging in a USB keyboard & typing some stuff blindly. Remember that the Joggler's internal memory is made out of bits of fluff and rusty bits of metal and is VERY prone to failure. For that reason many people prefer to boot from a USB drive.

Weird or events connected?

Exactly the same thing happened to my Kitchen Joggler yesterday.
Came down in the morning to listen to 5 Live and it couldn't see LMS.
Made several attempts to wake it up culminating with dreaded O2 black screen of death.
So made several attempts last night with roobarbs reflash tool to get it back to stock O2 (with a view to then putting it back to PnPIII) but it's having none of it.
Just stuck on O2 BSOD.

Think I'm done with trusting it's own memory so will fit it with an internal usb.
The only problem is ideally I want it to be PnPIII (not SqPOS) and I've not found a link to boot that off a usb - is there one?

I'm sure offbeatdave will correct me if i'm wrong but...nope. It won't boot off a stick.

I'm trying the new updated reflash to see what happens. It will load and boot. Thought I'd try my luck and add pnpiii but it won't let me telnet in! All I can say is good luck to both of us.

I think I've found the link. Thank you. That will be my last resort as I'm scared of breaking it!

WOO HOO. Used the openpeak reflash after reflashing with roobarb!'s newest updated image (or my version of it as I'm sure something went wrong when when I created it) and it's working again. PnPIII installed and 5 boots in it's still working. I'm leaving well alone and never switching off! Good luck Fishy.

Is that the download on the "Updated OpenPeak Firmware (version 30300)" thread dated 06/11/12 ?
If so, will give it a go tomorrow (as am out tonight).

Did you see offbeatdave's comment on the PnP thread ? - he thinks it was just a coincidence both down on same day.
Probably so but it's still odd.

Incidentally, I never switch any of mine off; think boot up/down is more likely to put stress on the internals than keeping them operating - so don't be thinking that will save you from the next time....!

Yes. But you'll see on that thread I've no idea what image i've actually created. I call it my frankenstein - a little bit of this, a little bit of that... I'd be really grateful if you could let me know what the new image looks like for you as I'm sure I've messed it up!

Oi you. Stop with the voice of doom! However, I agree. I think my others are fairly stable but this one is probably a bit of a dud.

It's the version where the next page is accessed by an icon in the bottom right corner rather than a stripe down the right side.
There appear to be more icons per screen.
Background is greyish not black.
There's a selection of symbols greyed out at the top relating to stuff I'll never use (eg, phone, wireless, etc) which is quite annoying.
Personally I prefer the O2 version I had before but at least this one works (for the time being.....)

Reflash with the o2 version, downloadable via Roobarb's birdslikewires site at http://birdslikewires.co.uk/articles/jogglerflash

Hmmm -

Presume that means reflashing to stock O2 ? ie loses all the partition benefits,etc documented for 30300.
Tried that initially (several times) and for some reason couldn't get past O2 black screen of death which is why I switched to flashing 30300.
My question really was is there a way to run 30300 with the visual appearance of O2; but I guess it's not quite as simple as simply switching a graphics file or something...
