Just a couple of questions that have been on my mind regarding the thermal trip point tweak.

The first time i applied the tweak was from within one of Buzz's Ubuntu builds , now does the tweak actually set the Joggler to 80 or just the build on the stick ?
I have a feeling its just for each individual build on the stick but i am a bit cunfused about this .

Also i just tried the tweak from within Joli Os and although i got there in the end i found it a bit fiddly could anyone quickly explain how to save and exit a "terminal " ? i did it but dont remember the process

Hello. Have a look towards the end of the joli os thread and see if that helps as last week poor buzz responded to a million questions from me and explained how to do it. You may need to go back a page or so on the thread to get to the beginning!

it sets the trip point for that boot only, for the os on the usb stick. you can edit the grub.cfg from windows if you put the usb stick in - as ilovemyjoggler mentioned I gave some additional details on the jolios thread.

buzz doesnt mind responding.. unless he is exceptionally grumpy

Hi. Can someone please confirm if the line sudo nano -w /boot/grub.cfgn only needs to be typed in if you are tweaking via the joggler but if you are using windows to access the file this step is not necessary? Many thanks!

Yes, that's right. Nano is an editor used on Linux systems; if you're editing the file on Windows, you don't need to use it.

Hi all:
2 questions:
I find in this forum dozens of references to the "Thermal Trip Point Tweak" - beeing "in the wiki".
However, when is search the wiki, there is only the FAQ coming up, but nothing is explains on HOW to do it....
Also, I looked elsewhere and found these "sudo nano -w /boot/grub.cfg" instructions. However, I would like to apply this tweak to the original s/w (plus PNP III) - and there is no /boot/grub.cfg to the best I know.
Can someone pls help me? Is there a tweak for the std. s/w? I need it, since I notice when watching streaming video that after a couple of minutes the stream get slow & out of sync and I can only assume that this is because of the throtteling behaviour ..... -> Pls help!

Hi. I don't think you can apply the thermal trip tweak to the standard os (and therefore not to PNPIII) . I'm sure someone will confirm.

Is the troublesome playback on iplayer in PNPIII or are you watching using something else?

It might be possible to modify the built in os thermal trip point via proc/sys fs from the main os, or change the way it is bootloaded to add the parameter. if the kernel supports it that is - not sure.

imho running xbmc via usb stick distro is the best for video playback.
