Installing mPlayer on Stock (PnP III'ed) OS - Progress made!

I've managed to get mPlayer recognised on the stock OS (as reported by the PlayReal and Play WMA plugins in Logitech Media Server)!
I haven't had any luck managing to get it to play streams yet (e.g. my classic goal from the past Sky Sports News Radio), but I will fiddle around with codecs later to see if this is the issue.
Edit: Not really sure which codecs need to go where or indeed if this can be made to go. Might need some help here folks!

How did you install this? The usual 'apt-get install' method would normally install Mplayer plus all its dependencies, but can you do this on the stock OS?
On other platforms I've never had to manually install anything else to play a file type that Mplayer supports. I wouldn't know where to start with the installation of Mplayer's dependencies.
Congratulations on the progress so far. If you get this working it would be hugely popular.

Did you get any further with this Dave as it would be a very useful feature when using PnP111 LMS server for some of those radio stations that only transmit in WMA.
I am a complete newbie to the Joggler (and Linux) so this might be a silly suggestion but is the code listed on this link any use?

Think I've looked at this before. I think that it refers to running LMS on a Ubuntu machine, then accessing it via a Joggler.
