O2: Software Update - Date/Time fault

I thought I would start a topic here as Russ also has this fault since the new O2 update arrived overnight 9/10 May 2012.
Everything looks fine except the day/date reverts to 21 September 2009.
The new settings icon doesn't have the option to set date or set time.
If the new software is using ntp then that doesn't appear to be running properly.
I have tried both on the wired and wireless connection to the internet and confirmed that other applications that need connectivity are working ok.
This is a standard joggler (never tweaked in any way)
It's an early model (purchased when o2 launched) in case that's a factor.
It received the o2 update over the internet as planned by o2.
Have run out of ideas but emailed someone at o2 to see if I can get an answer.
