Squeezebox Server woes - fixed

My previously trouble-free kitchen Joggler set up (original P'n'P with a couple of manually installed apps) went into a re-boot loop at the weekend. I bit the bullet and reflashed it using the instructions here: http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=2&t=120 - so far, so good.
I thought I'd give P'n'P mkII a spin and for most things it was fine but I had to manually install SCP using the instructions here: http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... +SCP#p4418. Squeezeplay didn't appear as an icon so I installed the birdslikewires version.
I loaded up Squeezebox Server in my PC's browser and ticked the "3rd party Spotify" plugin and restarted the server. The Spotify plugin did not appear in the list of active plugins and, to make matters worse, it disappeared from the list of available 3rd party plugins - no way of re-selecting it.
I thought it might be an ownership/permissions thing so I ran the chown command on joh's post here: http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... hown#p7783 but substituting the correct path for the PnP mkII Squeezeserver installation. The command failed because "squeezeboxserver" was not recognised as a group.
I decided to reflash and install Squeezeplayer and to try Logitech Media Server from joh's link above, correcting the permissions and editing the boot script to start it at boot up. Unfortunately that didn't work; I couldn't access the server at http://joggler-ip:9000
At this stage, I was desperate to get a working system back (and my beloved Spotify plugin) so I decided to re-flash and re-install gforums' Plug 'n' Pimp, because that's what worked before. Unfortunately, the Squeezeplay and Squeezebox Server files called by the installation script are no longer available and I can't install them using this method anymore.
I don't want to run Squeezebox Server on my PC because it wastes electricity and my iomega NAS doesn't support the installation of Logitech Media Server/Squeezebox Server.
I am now completely flummoxed! I can't install a working version of Squeezebox Server on the Joggler with the correct permissions to install and modify plugins. Can anybody help?
