Hi!

Joggler in the post, should be here by Monday!!

Is it possible to install Logitech Media Server directly on the Joggler? I would like to play my mp3 files directly on the Joggler instead of streaming them from my PC. I have over 70GB of mp3 files.

If it is possible? Could I install it directly from Logitech's website? Using Ubuntu?

If not, could I use it as a server to my Squeezebox Touch? If so, how does it work?

Another thing, is NTFS External Hard Drives ok with the Joggler? Or do I have to format it to FAT32?

1. Native OS - you can install Squeezebox Server and Squeezeplay on the Joggler's native OS using plug'n'pimp
2. Ubuntu - I think most of Buzz's distros come with Squeezeplay preinstalled
3. Android - you can install Squeeze Player ($) from the market together with Logitech's free controller app. There is no Squeezebox Server app for Android

If your PC is on most of the time then you could just install Logitech Media Server on it. Is your music collection on a NAS or attached to your PC?

My music is on my external hard drive hooked onto my laptop, I wanted to avoid turning on my laptop everytime I want to hear my mp3's. Maybe make the Joggler a "all in one"!?

You have another route ... Squeezebox Touch can run a cutdown version of LMS (ex SqueezeCenter) ... and you might find that the external USB disk can be plugged into the Touch as well.

I've tried that but the touch gets a little fussy with external harddrives with 70gb's of music, it says that the server has stopped/problem. That's why I was wondering if the joggler what a better option?!

I've not been able to get LMS to run on my xp builds, the service stops for some reason that I've not spent enough time on it to fix it, but tversity is already set up on Build 3 and streams music and video to upnp devices on the network.

After a bit of digging and dusting off my MCSE skills I found out that it was missing C++ libraries.

Install the following on your system and try to run LMS / Squeezebox server again. Works a treat!

Personally I'd recommend roobarbs squeezeplay OS. I run mine off a USB stick and would recommend you do the same rather than putting it on the internal memory. If your joggler is wired you can replace the internal wifi adapter with your usb stick. Mine runs LMS feeding a local player and 3 other players (another 2 jogglers and a Squeezebox radio)
