Sky Sports News Radio on Stock OS - Install LAME?

I'd been looking for a URL that worked on the o2 Radio player for Sky Sports News Radio for a while as I couldn't get the station found by Squeezeplay to work. I've now found one!
In case anyone else is interested, the URL when adding it as another station to the o2 Radio jogContent.xml file is
http://audio.teamtalk.com/SKYSports_NewsRadio
edit: It does seem to buffer quite a lot and then drop out but I'm not sure if that's my Joggler or the url!

I've also found that
http://media.thelounge.com/radio/2640.asx is also a working URL to add to the o2 Radio jogContent.xml file. Again, it seems to buffer quite a bit and cut in and out a little. I'll have to test the two streams and compare sometime.
What I'm really after is one that works on Squeezeplay but the only one I can get to work at all is
http://content.mobile-tv.sky.com/content/ssna/ssna.m3u8 but only with Repeat selected and then it occasionally repeats or misses out 10 second bursts.

If you've got Logitech Media Server running, it should be playable as long as you've opted for it to transcode to mp3.

Hmm. I'll have to investigate this further then.
Regarding the o2 Radio app, this entry in jogContent.xml seems quite reliable:
Code: Select all
<NetRadio>
<NetRadioID>114</NetRadioID>
<Name>Sky Sports News</Name>
<Description>The best sports coverage from around the world, covering: Football, Cricket, Golf, Rugby, WWE, Boxing, Tennis and much more...</Description>
<ImageURL>/openpeak/gui/apps/o2_radio/icons/skysportsnews.png</ImageURL>
<LocationID>14</LocationID>
<LanguageCode>en</LanguageCode>
<Genres>
<Genre Name=" News"/>
</Genres>
<Streams>
<Stream Status="1" BitRate="48" StreamFormat="RTSP/ASF" AudioFormat="WMA" Reliability="9" AudioQualityRating="2" URL="http://media.thelounge.com/radio/2640.asx"/>
<Stream Status="1" BitRate="32" StreamFormat="SHOUTCAST/SHOUTCAST" AudioFormat="MP3" Reliability="4" AudioQualityRating="4" URL="http://audio.teamtalk.com/SKYSports_NewsRadio"/>
</Streams>
</NetRadio>

Does this assume that you are running LMS on another device? On the stock OS I have Squeezeserver on the Joggler and it can't play WMA streams, such as Napster's, without having Mplayer installed - and I don't know if that can be done.
I'm not sure what Sky Sports News Radio streams are (EDIT --- Duh! I just noticed the MP3 bit in the code posted above) but they might not play without a helper app if you have the server on the Joggler.
EDIT --- O2 Pure radio app has been quite unreliable for me of late; a lot more stoppages and failures than the same stations played on Squeezeplay.

OK, I'm stumped. Joggler is running Squeezebox Server. In settings->Advanced->Files types I most mp3 options are disabled. Do I need to/can I install LAME in the Squeezebox Server on the Joggler?

OK, have not got LAME installed by installing in Ubuntu and then grabbing the lame file and copying it across to /media/gforums/apps/squeezeboxserver-7.6.0-31297/Bin/i386-linux! Squeezeserver now recognises it is installed! Not sure if it'll do anything though...
