Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and the Joggler world, I got my Joggler this week but I'm not quite happy with it... hope you can give me some advice.

The problem is that It keeps crashing from time to time. About 5 times in one week. The screen freezes (not a clear image but you can still see what it showed before crashing) or shows weird colors and at the same time (not always but sometimes) the audio output plays a cracking noise.

This has happend with original firmware and with the Ubuntu 11.04 from exotica. It must be a hardware problem... Logging into it by ssh or telnet is not possible when that happens, therefore it's not just a display problem. It really seams to crash completely.
Is this a known problem with the Joggler?

Its not a problem i have heard of, but roobarb or buzz would know more. Although it does sound hardware related.

Well, this isn't what I'd call a 'known problem', although some Jogglers do experience some weird on screen colours when booting (as I have only experienced for myself the first time this week).

The first thing that pops to mind is overheating - is your Joggler particularly sluggish while in use? If you install the command line 'acpi' tool (sudo apt-get install acpi) on Ubuntu and then issue 'acpi -V' you should see the current operating temperature of the CPU. Should be around 65-70 degrees C after a while of running - if it spends it's time much higher than that, cooling may be the issue.

That really is the most hopeful of suggestions though. If you've got a more substantial hardware problem than that, well, the options become more limited.
