Spotify - Remote Host Not Responding

Hi

I was wondering if some of the more tecnically savvy of you could help with an issue I am having.

I have hacked my Joggler following the excellent instructions found on this board, I am running Ubuntu Natty and connect to my router via an ethernet cable. I also have a mac connected to this router and a Squeezebox Duet.

I am a Spotify premium member and I have been managing to stream music to both my Joggler and my SB Duet ok....until today

:(

Now, whenever I try to stream any music via Spotify I get a 'Remote Host Not Responding' error and the file refuses to play.

I suspect that this is possibly caused by a network issue rather than an issue with the Joggler or the hack. But not being an expert I am not sure

Note that Spotify works fine on my mac

Any help much appreciated

Regards

Paul

Has this issue resolved itself?
It sounds as if Spotify may have been down for maintenance. At the moment Spotify's service status message reads "We are currently experiencing some problems".

I tried Spotify this morning and it was working for me. Are you still having problems?

Hi

It's working but I'm not sure if this is related to Spotify being back up as Spotify always worked on my Mac. Basically turned everything off and back on again and it worked.

Glad it's working for you now.
Maybe it was a Squeezeserver issue. An earlier P'n'P version of Squeezeplay used to have a "stop server/start server" option that was really useful; it quickly brought some of my Squeezeplay plugins back from the dead on a few occasions.

Hi

Well it all seems a bit hit and miss and sometimes works flawlessly for hours and then for no apparent reasons refuses to play.

Here is my setup

1. A Mac in my study with all my music on it running OSX Lion connected to a router
2. A squeezebox Duet in my living room connected via ethernet cable to my music on my mac via the router
3. A hacked joggler in my kitchen running Natty Ubuntu connected via ethernet cable to my musci on my mac.

The Spotify app works everytime on my mac without fail. It also works evertime on my iphone over wireless without fail.

Which suggests it not an issue with Spotify, my internet connection or my mac.

Yesterday I was happilty streaming music all day, no issues at all.

Then in the evening - nothing - I couldn't get Spotify to stream properly. Sometimes the first few seconds of a song would play then it would stop, sometimes no sound would come out but I could see the song looping through the first 5 seconds or so of a song.

But - I could play the music on my Mac??

Any ideas??

My uninformed view is that I am having IP conflicts/network issues between my three bits of kit but I have no idea how to prove this or fix it.

cheers
