Strange wired cnxn issues with Squeezeplay OS

Hi all,

I thought I'd got the hang of reflashing and using USB stick mounted OS Squeezeplay. I have one joggler which I've had for some time which has the PnPIII OS on the internal flash and runs the Squeezeplay OS no problem from the USb stick image.

I just got another Joggler which has the OpenPeak OS on it and I'm having some difficulty repeating the steps I did on the other one.

Basically it doesn't seem to be getting a wired ip address so the reflash tool hangs.

I've tried using the reflsh folder on the reflash tool to install Squeezeplay OS but that isn't working either.

If I just run a bare reflash with no OS and attempt to install another OS (like PnPIII which is how I did the other one) it just reverts to the OpenPeak OS.

When I try to run the Squeezeplay OS from the USB stick I'm unable to get a wired connection, (error: the ethernet device has not been assigned an address)

I can get a wireless connection and everything works as it should, but with a connection is there some file I could edit to get the wired conneciton working.

My end goal is to have Squeezeplay OS or PnPIII installed on internal flash memory.

If this is fried, is it possible to fnid this out?

Thanks anyone for any help.

Hmm, think I may have got into a speed wobble there. Using the reflash tool I did NOT need the reflash script and i DID need an MD5 for the image I was using...

I think this time I've sorted it, reflashing as we speak, watch this space!

OK, I now have squeezeplay OS runnning OK. I still have weird network issues though. Everything is fine when using the supplied ethernet cable direct into my router. However, as this is for the bedroom where wifi is weak I bought a Cat5 cable and ran it to the bedroom.

No network connection is possible when using this cable. Is it the wrong sort?

Possibly - did you buy a crossover cable or a straight through? The colours at both ends (when the plug is viewed from the side with the pins) should be:

Yellow-White, Yellow, Green-White, Blue, Blue-White, Green, Brown-White, Brown

If one plug has them in a different order, you've got a crossover cable and I don't think the Joggler's hardware auto-adjusts for that.

hmm, looks like:
White, Orange, Green, Dk Blu, Lt Blu, Grey, Brown, Black

Appears same both ends, but I now notice the cable is marked Cat5e Patch cable.

Could it just be too long? Think its ten meters or so.

Nay, ethernet standard is up to 100m for a single cable. See you've sorted it now, though!

well, I abandoned the cable option, so still a question mark about the cable itself.

The power line adapters also will be using their Ethernet ports so the only candidate to my mind is a faulty cable.
