Just curious if you can run the O2 OS "tango" inside of Ubuntu 12.10...mean doing a chroot thing maybe or...
...it would be nice to run PnP3 sitting on the MMC memory from the SSD or boot USB stick...

I think the answer is no Pete , unfortunately

to a layman it is just an os that is running inside the Joggler so is there no way of sort of copying it and doing as you say above , I agree it would be great to have , if only for the Jogglers whose internal memory is caput and will only efi boot ( I have one )

I tried this a long time ago - unfortunately, there's too much Flash stuff that's coded quite particularly to the OpenPeak OS to really make it feasible. The OpenPeak SDK (which I think is still available) will actually run quite happily under Ubuntu after a bit of faffing around, but that just gives you the interface with very few usable apps.

Thanks roobarb!
Yup downloaded the SDK a while back; don't remember where I put it though.
I am wondering now if the SDK includes the stuff for the DECT Telephony and Zigbee energy chip....never even thought to look at it for this stuff...

Yup; I happened to be looking at the Openframe 7 on my home office desk and in my face right nowwhile reading you post.
This one has the updated firmware on it. It boots initially with the Ayava logo.
I have a second run running with the Seabios/Coreboot EFI replacement on it running Wintel. (BTW works fine).
It will be attached to this post in the next few minutes.

Thanks Pete, just want to compare them and see if there are any differences.

Noticed that this one was a brand new one and I did forget to update the firmware on it and it was just booting off a USB SSD. It was an Ayava virgin as I was able to pair it up with phone et al. It was set up with the download shop apps et al. Just rewrote firmware cuz I couldn't SSH to it.
Just reflashed it with Openframe firmware.
Still boots with Avaya EFI (logo).

I haven't seen any now in a few months.
They were sold as a video telephone. (no joggler in the description) and just an openpeak reference part number.
I could never get the audio to work in XP; works fine in W81. Linux audio works fine with them.

Seems that the only difference is the mini pci express support the rest looks pretty much the same.

The wireless card in place is a little 1/2 sized broadcom mini combo blue tooth and wireless card.

The Avaya EFI that you posted, is that from an openframe 2 or 7 or are they the same thing. If they are different could you please post the other one so I can have a look.

mickchip,
Will do.
The Avaya is an Openframe 7 (also sold by AT&T and Cisco and various utility companies) - bigger with the two speakers in the front. Different sound chip.
The Openframe 1.0 is not the same. It was sold by Verizon.
It looks just like an O2 Joggler. Same case except it has a built in microphone, ZIF pata clip, Zigbee energy chip and DECT connectivity. No mini pci card slot in the Openframe 1.0. Thinking the sound chip is the same as the O2 Joggler. What is neato is that they come with a ZIF PATA port already in place; such that a ZIF SSD is plugnplay.
Will upload the EFI boot for the Openframe 1.0 box.

Thanks Pete
Thinking that maybe the pata port driver is in that EFI maybe just disabled, I have all the Aptio tools here so if if its in there I should be able to enable it.
Only thing I've managed so far is turn off Numlock at bootup.

Yup; on the Openframe 1.0's that I have running the EFI boot chip works fine with the ZIF pata connector; but I can't boot up off of it. That said I have interchanged the O2 Joggler and Openframe 1.0 EFI boot chips / and written the boot EFI to the Joggler and vice versa and it does see the pata port; just doesn't boot in EFI mode. It does fine in Seabios / coreboot mode.
We had a major rain storm here last night; thunder lightning and much rain. Toward midnight it turned to ice pellets and hail; then over night it turned to snow. Wind kept up and it was a major PITA this morning to deal with. I will make it a point to post the EFI boot from the Openframe 1.0 as I have a few of these now in pieces on my workbench (as of the last few days).

Thanks pete, I can disable the MMC controller in the EFI. I may try that when I've flashed a couple of bios chips justi n case I mess it up again.
I will have to take another joggler to pieces and do the hot swap, flashed a modded EFI over my core boot joggler and messed it up.
By the way we have had it really bad over here, wind & rain floods I presume you've seen it on the news, will be in the US on 27th March
Miami overnight then Fort Lauderdale for a cruise 20 nights ( can't wait )
Could you also post the zipped contents of the boot partition of one of the verzion ones

Yup; will do. I have a DD of the boot partition from the Verizon Openframe 1.0's some where. It is very customized and has DR pieces to it such that it can recover from the "cloud" should it fail.
I listen to the BBC every day; but no mention of weather over there.
I don't watch news or listen or read the newspapers these days unless the news gets in my face.
I just spoke to an old friend a few minutes ago...he happens to be in Miami right now (on vacation). He said the weather is nice right now there.
(his daughter is getting ready to start medical school and him and his wife are visiting her).
Easiest way is to boot up the Verizon (virgin) with Buzz's Ubuntu build.
Done. I uploaded it to dropbox. It is both the EFI boot and MMC partition #1 (EFI) of the Verizon Openframe 1.0.
Note this one was a Verizon Openframe 1.0 virgin; fresh out of the box.

Very nice!
Yeah it got a bit difficult here doing that hot swap EFI chip thing. What a great idea.
Yup here just playing a bit and use those little clamps on the workbench to keep stuff from touching.
Here I cannot swap the EFI boot rom with this board; but playing with it anyways....haven't burned it up yet...(I think?).
