edit /etc/default/rcS

should be something like

Code: Select all

# automatically repair filesystems with inconsistencies during boot
FSCKFIX=no
set it to yes. This would be a good default I guess since it's hard to press a key as you say (I recently changed this on my distros)
As of 2 minutes ago, this is the default on sqpOS v1.09 as well. I've made a quick 'revision 2' and uploaded it, so if anyone's grabbed a copy so far it might be worth your while fetching it again. I've tweaked this FSCKFIX setting and reduced the size of the boot partition again as well. It's down to 16MB now, giving a few more MB to the main partition. Full changelog is here, as usual.

Hi - I've been using SqueezePlay OS on my Joggler for a while and its great :-) - Surprisingly high WAF for a gadget in the Lounge ! Though I think its the single biggest reason for pushing up the price of Jogglers on Ebay ... :-(

I've just retired the PC I was using as a Server (inc LMS) in favour of a NAS. Now the NAS can run LMS - but only an older version is included. As the Joggler is on full time I thought I'd try the LMS on the SqueezePlay OS option - mounting the NAS drive with the Media and using the internal flash install. I have 2 problems.

1) I cant get the menu NAS mount to work on either NFS or SMBS. No changes are made to fstab when I set the options up, but the date changes. If I manually add the relevant config it mounts 1st time

2) LMS seems to have got confused between the Joggler SqueezePlay and Squeeze Play on my PC. If I change the name of Squeezeplay (PC) - it changes the name of the Joggler Squeezeplay, as if its seeing only 1 squeezeplay regardless. I've uninstalled and re-installed Squeezeplay on the PC, deleted them all from mysqueezebox.com and re-registered etc but nothing changes. Are there any pointers to error logs etc that I could look at that might give some clues. I thought all the players were handled on their unique MAC addresses so cant see how they're being confused.

The Joggler is on the latest SqPOS, 1.07 (with Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.2 - r33893 @ Wed Mar 14 05:46:46 PDT 2012). I have a Logitech Squeezebox Radio that is working fine with the server on the Joggler.

On the server part the only thing that looks odd is its registered to 127.0.0.1 loopback rather than the IP of the wireless LAN in the Settings GUI, info tab.

Thanks

Great news - someone has found how to fix the Youtube plugin.

See post #224 on http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthrea ... gin/page23

Have tried it on my Windows "test bed" office PC and it works.
Will figure out how to get it onto Joggler over the weekend - think the answer is in here http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthrea ... r-instance

Thought I'd be brave and try it. I Can't even get into my joggler! SSH is enabled. I'm using winscp with u/n letmeinssh and p/w joggler1234. Access denied. It came up with a scary error message - security breach, server name different, blah blah blah and something about clicking update/skip/cancel. I clicked update hoping it would work but still won't let me in. Erm have I got the wrong u/n & p/w?

I'm having trouble with the usb installer version 1.09

I reflashed back to the O2 stock 26635.S3 using your reflasher tool and it is working fine but when I try using your usb installer it dosnt seem to be working, ive made sure all the files inc the sum file are present.

Funny thing is, is that it bleeps twice but the Squeeze app does not appear?

The username and password are both joggler in squeezeplayOS. The one you're using is the PNP3 versions.

I know it is somewhat silly, but how would I go about preventing the Squeezeplayer from automatically starting at system startup.
I have managed to install Mono, and would like to get another program to start on System Startup with Squeezelite running as well, and love your build because it is so slim, and can be run internally without much issue.

So what i would like to do is:

Get Squeezelite working <-- Done
Install Mono <-- Done
Prevent Squeezeplayer from starting at startup (e.g. Comment out the startup line, so i could restore it later, and have the OS not restart if the process is killed) <-- Not sure how to do this.
Get Squeezelite to start on Startup <-- Should be able to do this
Get Mono to start on Startup <-- Should be able to do this.

Appreciate any tips.

Thanks :)

That's odd - the USB installer hasn't changed at all for a while now. You've tried a reboot after installing, just in case? It should all be very straightforward if you're on 26635..

What you need is the ~/.xinitrc file. That's where SqueezePlay is triggered from. Just comment out the SqueezePlay startup line and add in anything you want.

I'll have to check this out in the week. The installer needs rewriting for v30300 anyway.

Could you try installing following the command line instructions instead?

Has anyone worked out how to install the new YouTube plugin?

Got into Joggler with WinSCP and found location of files to replace:
.var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/installedplugins/plugins/youtube

but hit a load of permissions problems whenever I try to paste the new files.

Run the command with root privileges. Either by prefixing the command with sudo or use sudo su to switch to the root user.

davidismynaim wrote:my problem, on stopping/turning off squeezebox transporter the clock does display for about 5 seconds then the joggler goes completely blank. If I touch it the display of the clock reappears, but this is not the behaviour I would ideally like. I have checked all settings to do with screensaver and display standby is disabled.

Any ideas why this happens. my other joggler connected to the M-DAC switches to the clock and stays on the clock until I wake it up again.

Thanks for any ideas

Cheers
David
I know in the grand scheme of things this is minor...but the joggler in the lounge, (used as a slave display to my transporter) is as useful as a clock 24/7 as it is a display of what is playing. The behaviour is that when the chosen squeezebox is powered off (via the web, ipeng, remote control etc) the clock displays on the joggler for about 10 seconds then the screen on the joggler goes blank. The reason I had not noticed this on the my 2nd joggler is that I never normally power down the native joggler. But in the lounge the remote does a power off on the transporter and the joggler follows suit. In my previous use of the joggler as a slave display (running stock o2 OS), it happily obeyed the screen saver rules, and (with my settings) went to display a clock and stayed displaying the clock until I powered up again to play music.

Is there any way I can configure the joggler and squeezeplayer OS to not blank out the screen?

Thanks but unfortunately I don't know how to do that.
Is it a separate login/pwd ?? If so what?

All I'm trying to do is replace a few files with newer versions of the same thing.
Hence using WinSCP because it's supposed to be simpler (windows style interface, drag & drop, etc, etc).

Think sudo su, etc is if you've gone in via putty? but if I do that I don't know enough about linux to do the file copy & replace....

Is there a root login I could use for WinSCP that would overcome all this?

Thanks

Use putty:

Code: Select all

cd ~
wget https://github.com/murklegit/squeeze-yt/archive/master.zip
sudo unzip -o master.zip -d /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/installedplugins/plugins/youtube

Thanks - all went well until the final unzip command which it says is not found.
