Dan, the torture test goes well. I manage to run low on virtual memory with your setting, so some might want to increase that after install.
And I've signed up for a 1month trial of Netflix... the UK selection is a bit poor. Watched about half an hour of 'Humanoid from the Deep' which wasn't good. I think I've seen most of the good movies.

Folks here got very upset with Netflix when they changed their pricing schema for the online/tape mailed to you thing. We do have a "free" horror web site that streams some old "b" campy horror/sci fi stuff. There is a "push" here for the "a la carte" per view shows/movies from both satellite and broadband; enough such that internet runs a distant 3rd; kind of a shame. (wife's satellite and my broadband TV). The providers though push their content as the only content and sometimes I think stifle the competition; a bit monopoly like. An example is just VOIP; BB provider offers the service and provide the QOS for their service kind of dinging any of the competition.
My wife though does enjoy some old TV shows from the 50's and 60's from PlayOn TV. I did set up a friend of mine who is a dentist with a Chumby / sound system and Pandora for her dental office. She enjoys that a whole bunch; mostly the touch screen way to get to the music.

I'm still trying to figure out why Joggler #5 still is rarely booting into the integrated NIC here. I switched back to Mevi's build yesterday.
The NIC thing though is presented a bit different; none the less it doesn't start unless I leave the Joggler unplugged for a time.
I'm will now to take a soldering iron to the Joggler / also have access to maybe even replacing the realtek chip (don't have the proper tools but have "friends" that would do that for me giving the proper direction).
Dan/Mevi, curious if you are aware of or know what exactly the NVRam holds and if that is related to maybe something with the realtek nic chip?
Side thing; configuring the Cisco PoE switch for the Jogglers; putting the switch on a UPS will give me power to the Jogglers 24/7; so they be on 24/7. I have noticed that Jogglers #1-4 will typically warm boot just fine into the network.

With a bigger page file it runs ok. The lack of w32time service means that although the time app that I added to syncs with an ntp server at login, after a while it switches back to the Joggler midnight time and 2005 date.
The factory OS, efi and the nvram are all a mystery to me.

Nvram holds your boot preferences even when it loses power, so the boot preference of the realtek chip is kept and settings held in the nvram take hold on the next boot, thats why when you power down the joggler for a long time it forgets.

Also apparently holds firmwares for pieces of hardware, but I reckon thats a bit of a myth.

That itself is stifling my efforts to purchase any more refurbs (even though the price and the HW condition was excellent).
I'm am wondering if I should be looking for a serial number series of Joggler builds?
So no one has ever reversed engineered or dumped the NVRam to get some granular info?
Are there different versions of NVRam that I could test writing to the Joggler with?

Looks familiar Dan - takes me back to the early 1980's. Did play with ML/Assembler for a bit around then.

Yeah, the nvram is something I looked into before when trying to figure out the nic issues, but I think I maybe disregarded it too soon.

Another option would be to try all the XP/2003 drivers found here

Dan,
What IRC?
Playing today some with a new Motherboard for my new NAS. Its an ASUS AMD E350 based chipset. It has the ability to boot via EFI on it too. It has the same realtek GB chip on it (or very similiar). So far the recommendations are to utilize a different NIC as it states that the realtek Gb chipset is not NAS friendly. That said I am upgrading the firmware on a new SATA3 IBM M1015 8 port SATA card that I might use for it and made up a USB boot stick. I was to look at the options on the DOS Realtek Diagnostics to see if they are different from the windows Realtek diagnostic program.
