Here the fish are swimming rather quickly with 3 other applications running just as fast as the fish swim with your newest image Mevi.
I'm not sure if I implemented manxam's procedures for EWF and registry entries correctly; but it looks to be working here. I also added another 1Gb partition for whatever reason #3 partition now has the pagefile on it instead of partition #2; figured what the heck anyways; eh?
I did them right away so I don't know if the fish were swimming fast and fine beforehand; apologies there Mevi.

My tests with Deep Freeze, another disk write filter, showed a similar speed-up. It's the way to go.

I tried that but it didn't work. I renamed it to x.gho and still the same in both environments, virtual machine with ghost boot disk v11.5 and using ghost explorer v11.

Pete, I suspect the aquarium screensaver problem was due to the video memory which I seem to remember is shared with the system memory.

Cheers, Dan.
Has zmjimi made it clear how the switch between speaker and phones works?
I downloaded another XP a few days back that I thought said that the speaker/phones was fixed, only to find there was no change at all. Probably a translation goof.

Hi all
Just stumbled across this forum after a long time. Awesome to see XP working, so I'm going to dust off the Joggler and try this.
What minimum read and write speed USB do you recommend?
I'm thinking of getting a 32GB from Play.com or 7dayshop but want to give the Joggler the best chance of success.

Would a class 10 SD card (in an adaptor) do the job (Play have one for around £18)?

Read and write speeds on paper are not the only thing to consider. I have 2 USB sticks, a flash voyager and a Lexar echo. The echo has write speeds of 15MB/s, but in actual use, the 10MB/s voyager is much quicker to boot and launch apps. The voyager is still available to buy, and they may be a good buy if the speeds are increased. It's the one with a rubbery ouside. I still recommend a 2.5" HDD for XP, as the constant writes to a flash stick will wear it out. You can rig up an elastic band cradle for a hdd across the metal stand to keep things tidy. A big hairband works and is less likely to snap.

I have a 1.8" HDD (20gb) with the Ubuntu image but for me, it's still too big.
Being as fan of minimalism (is that even a word) I'd like to get a 16 or 32Gb micro Sd class 10 and boot XP off it.
Will a class 10 Sd do the job?

It'll boot, I'm sure. I've booted ubuntu off a 8GB class 6 which ran ok. Minimalism comes at a cost, though. Flash storage won't last very long with xp as the OS writes to the card continuously. You'd better off looking at a USB SSD like the kingspec ones that others are using. You'll wanna hide that inside on the internal USB socket at the cost of losing the wifi, or solder a new one to the board. I have a really tiny Lexar USB stick that barely sticks out the side of the Joggler, but small file writes are shockingly slow. Dan and others are ironing out the bugs with EWF which will cache the smaller writes to memory to commit them to disk at a later time. Keep an eye out for his next build.
