Well; right after my last post my wife and I decided to go to the movie theater and just kind of have a chill out day. We rarely do this. It was relaxing.

This stuff does wonders for the WAF.

We went to see " J Edgar Hoover". Yeah after a playing a bit and reading some more relating to the internal NIC; thinking (guessing?) that maybe something could be done with the EFI relating to the internal NIC. The issues I kept reading about seem to relate to the PHY setting, CMOS setting or even just pulling the CMOS battery for a "cold" reset after the NIC hangs. Putting in a static MAC in the firmware won't fix that.

I read much the same, Pete.

I'm gonna put that problem on the back burner and keep investigating alternate boot methods, namely the possibility of Grub EFI delivering a BIOS payload. Seems like the tools are there. Stumbled across some things earlier. It's heavy reading. :-/

Oh, and fix the current build, of course. :)

Mevi,

I was able to replicate the touch screen offset only once maybe after repeating the boot process. It was either on the bottom with the mouse icon moving to the top or to the right piece of the screen moving the icon on the left. It was once out of maybe 10 boots. So it looks to be a very rare occurance (at least to me). I've not seen the pixel display shift testing your XPSP3 image on the three Jogglers to date.

I wondering about the grub process; maybe doing a one or two line linux NIC configuration prior to the XPSP3 boot process might do something; even though we are mixing apples and oranges here; relying on the multiboot partitions; or maybe just leaving that piece in the EFI partition?

I thought i was just getting better at navigating by touch, but perhaps it's not happening every boot here either. I bought a stylus as I hoped it would be easier to tick tiny boxes, but it's just as inaccurate as my finger!

Incorporating a bios into the boot process as I am understanding it, looks like a lot of chain loading efi grub to normal grub with seabios or openbios payload to hopefully then boot any old thing that we want. I'll start pestering them for help. I think the promise of a small and cheap touch screen pc is enough to get people on board. :D

I purchased a Lenova; not really for the keyboard; just like its size and little RF dongle. (actually bought 2 - the other one is for the MCE setup by the TV). Not easy to type with it though.

just gonna get a cheap generic one for now, as i would only use it to play with the multiboot.

Think I am turning into a Scrooge too, as everything seems real expensive these days lol

Oh and another option for windows users is to just clone the vhd to a partition on the boot media, it takes about 4 minutes to complete.

The Lenova legacy wireless was around $20; cuz they make a new one with an illuminated keyboard. The "el cheapo" ones I've seen around around $10 USD.

Great, Dan.

I don't think I ever saw anything strange on my Jogglers with any xp build.

Pete, you asked about the screen flicker at 3minutes. I have a w32time scheduled task that runs at 3 minutes past midnight to set the time after a cold boot. Seems to coincide with that.
