Windows 8.1 Embedded Industry Pro

Post by pete »

Over the last few days here installed Windows 8.1 Embedded Industry Pro on an OpenPeak 1. It works but is a tad slow.

Hardware properties

1 - Seabios
2 - Realtek Rom update
3 - 16Gb SSD (used up 8 Gb for OS)

Good stuff

1 - Saw Realtek NIC interface on boot
2 - Generic VGA interface on boot
3 - touch screen worked

Gotchas

1 - installed audio drivers to get sound
2 - installed Intel Inf files

Adds

1 - Microsoft speech fonts - Neospeech fonts worked great

Updates / updating anything takes over 60 minutes - not practical for use here but thought I would give it a try.

Will take pictures here and post system properties. Will then remove SSD and back it up and wipe it and try Embedded 7.
Windows XP embedded works great and is my current Windows touchscreen standard here for automation.

RDPing from Linux it works except it is really slow. Changed resolution and IE works.
