Definitely ... if you use the usb boot routine for other OS. Not sure, but some models disable the usb boot on first use. Take care.

The sound is nicer on these and larger 2Gb eMMC. The rear table bracket comes off and you can probably fit it with a wall hanging bracket. Inside it uses a combo bluetooth / WLAN mini pcie card rather than a USB WLAN stick. The top of it has a small removable plastic cover which when removed served as a USB camera connector. I never saw an Openpeak web cam though.

Used as is without hardware modifications you can update eMMC to a basic more current version Linux running KODI or Squeeze play as hawsey mentions above.

Hardware mods a a bit more difficult relating to:
1 - opening the case - easy though push on the plastic tabs right underneath the LCD screen via the holes you see on the bottom of the device then lift up the LCD screen.
2 - you can update the EFI boot rom to a Seabios boot rom. The boot rom though is soldered on such that you cannot do a hot swap if you mess it up.
3 - add a second internal or external USB port via the top USB pins.
4 - repurpose the mini pcie card slot to maybe a mini sata to hard drive (SSD). The IDE ZIF pins are there for soldering on a ZIF clip.
The mini pcie cards (SATA) are a bit too tall but would work. Note tested an mSATA card not to work.
satausb.jpg
5 - Built in DECT and Zigbee chip
6 - traces for SIM card connection
7 - traces for a micro SD card connection. (I tried it and didn't see the card here).
8 - here tested XP embedded and had sound working once. Everything else worked fine. Worked better with Seabios.
9 - NIC rom rewrite would provide a function Gb working network chip.
10 - microphone - thinking it is connected to the DECT chip. Note the DECT phones worked fine with original OS.
11 - the motherboard is larger than the O2 Joggler / Openpeak device. There is a large heatsink covering the entire motherboard which is similar to the Openframe / Openpeak 1 device.
12 - looks / feels way better built that the current Amazon video tablet device. Very solid.

A few years back street Ebay price for said device called Openpeak Video device came new with one DECT phone and charger in a plain black Openpeak box was around $35 USD (new) which is 25 GBP.

It is worth 25 GPB but not much more as it is a brick unless you know how to modify it (via software or hardware). A used one whatever relabeled ; Cisco, telephony, utility company is worth maybe 15 GPB depending on it's condition. I have purchased one used one in an original box and it was not in good condition and well worn. It was not worth the $50 I paid for it at the time a few years back.

It was built way ahead of it's time.

Today mostly utilize these as Squeezebox players (not servers) or recently tested KODI on one.

Andrew
Thanks for the heads up - I have bought one of these, hopefully it will arrive by the end of the day.

I intend to use it for run SqueezeplayOS, like our 'Kitchen Joggler', but instead of having external DAC & Amp, using the onboard speakers, as a sort of 'local boombox' for our granddaughter's room. I wonder how long it will be before she complains it's not loud enough?

This arrived today, and on first appearances is pretty much perfect for my uses. They do appear to be very well built...

Wireless works fine.

According to Rhubarb's page https://birdslikewires.uk/squeezeplay-os, yes you can use the internal memory. I haven't yet tried, ran it from a pendrive.

The location of the USB socket, at the rear rather than the side, makes using a tiny flash drive very inconspicuous.

Actually, having said "all is fine", I am having trouble keeping the Joggler (running SqueezeplayOS) to keep the internal sound setting; I had it running once, and the settings still indicate that internal sound is set, but I'm getting nothing coming out. However I think/hope that this is a SW problem rather than a Joggler HW issue. I'll check in another part of the jogglerwiki site...

Mine is due to arrive on Friday.
Plan is to replace the bathroom Joggler (far from water and power from outside) with the hope that first mention is of the Radio sounding better rather than "where did that enormous monstrosity come from?".

Mine arrived earlier than expected.

It boots into original stuff - which has a British Gas logo an energy monitoring app that appears to be personalised (perhaps original was with some specific Zigbee kit) and the AlertMe app (I reply to another thread about that).
Power supply is multivoltage but shipped with only US plug.
Easy to change as the brick has a "kettle"-type socket.

The lid of the packaging says Openpeak.

So my guess is that these are unsold BG versions that had not been finalised for UK delivery (or would have had UK plug and BG box).

Annoyingly it is not booting from external SqueezePlayOS USB stick.

So I think I'll do some more digging around before attempting overwriting of internal memory with SqueezePlayOS (which it seems would work from above).

Try a few different usb sticks, Jogglers can be quite fussy about which sticks they will boot from.
