Joggler pi

Post by hawsey »

Joggler pi might be nice to make with my broken joggler with the possible good screen but I suspect it might be quite a task!
The raspberry pi has mini HDMI which just plugs straight in to a monitor or TV
Will do a bit of googling

The display on the Joggler uses LVDS. I dont know if theres a hdmi to lvds bridge adaptor you could google for.

IEI make just such a product:

I've got one, but you _really_ have to know what you're doing to be able to use it. i.e. you have to exactly determine an accurate DTD for each display you plug it into, and recompile the graphics drivers with that configuration. Definitely not "plug and play".

Buy a Raspberry Pi ;-)

I wanted to use the possible good screen of my fried joggler as a display for the Pi :-) which I was lucky enough to get ahold of already

Oh yeah, I misunderstood. I've been following this topic for a while actually... a company called is Chalkboard Electronics was apparently developing a DSI to LVDS converter board for the Pi which will accomplish this.

But apparently they had to abort, and concoct this rather ugly contraption instead: http://www.chalk-elec.com/?p=1553

It'd do the job, but wouldn't be particularly easy to make work with the Joggler's screen.

Lol yeah I think I will leave this sort of tinkering up to the likes of your good self he he
What I really need is a joggler with a broken screen to get myself a working joggler :-)
Even thinking of selling my pi to get a working joggler ho hum having just one good joggler is not good .....

it wouldn't be that bad. I assume you at least know which end of the soldering iron is hot? :P

You'd just have to find out how to set the LVDS output mode on that board (I'm sure it comes with a manual), then you've got to make up an X.Org modeline for the Joggler's panel, that should be it (I think).

If I could actually get my hands on a Raspberry Pi I'd have bought one by now...
