HTTP server with streaming Webcam image from Joggler?

Post by matbro51 »

Hi all,

I've been alternating between the native OS and the Ubuntu 10.10 image from a USB stick, but i was wondering if anyone could recommend an easy way to stream my Webcam from the joggler, so that I can view the image on a simple web page in any browser, elsewhere on my LAN or beyond. (Something like YAWCAM, which is a Windows only program I think.)

I have a camera which is just about UVC compliant and does show an image in VLC in Ubuntu on the Joggler with a bit of coaxing.

I've tried streaming this image with VLC, but with no success. (Possibly because I can't see the whole of the VLC options page on the Joggler screen, and am missing something because of this.)

Can anyone recommend a simpler way to do what I want? I think the Joggler would be ideal as a nice quiet webcam server.

thanks!
