emgd 1.16

Post by BuZz »

Is almost "out"

Some people have the source already (part of intel membership/dev program or so)

We received emgd 1.16 from Intel directly, it's a development release and I believe it will appear on their official page soon
Looks forward to seeing if they offer much improvement older the last release.

I extracted the emgd kernel source and xserver from the links in the forum post above and have packaged them up. Just have a test now. I notice he also links to a flashplayer with video acceleration which should be useful!

Will you add them into repository for 12.04. I want to try them first before i start building xbmc on new image to see how they perform on xbmc.

there may be some performance improvements (as is suggested on the thread I linked), but I didn't notice anything in particular yet. There is still efi framebuffer corruption noticable on exit, and it did crash switching away from X too as previous driver did. as these drivers came direct from intel and they are not published on their site yet, I might wait a few days for the official release, to make sure we have the very latest.

Any increase in the version of X it plays with, or are we still tied to 1.9 and Maverick sources?

not seen the intel package, but the one given out on the linked thread is 1.9 xserver only. I know they had a 1.10 version in previous releases that was also for wayland, but that one had issues.

Intel seem to be in no rush to get this released on their website :(

Just compiled and got them running on what will become the next SqueezePlay OS. All good first time, so thanks for the lovely packages! That Intel bug with the display corruption is still present on my build as well, so no improvement there. :)
