Joggler as a wireless bridge?

Post by markeh »

Hi,

I've been using the joggler as a wireless bridge using both the windows xp and joli os images which has been great but after a while they tend to not work so well, quite often because I will power off the joggler accidentally. While putting pnpIII on my joggler I thought it may be possible to have the joggler function as a bridge with the standard OS and therefore no problem with the image being corrupted when it's accidentally powered off.

The wireless is the source I want to share via ethernet to a satellite receiver. So if I just enable eth0, there should be some way to bridge ra0 to it?

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0E:8E:24:AD:32
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:703 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:42180 (41.1 KiB) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)
Interrupt:223 Base address:0x8000

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:590 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:590 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:232278 (226.8 KiB) TX bytes:232278 (226.8 KiB)

ra0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0E:8E:24:AD:32
inet addr:192.168.11.12 Bcast:192.168.11.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:38310 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:2404 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:5348936 (5.1 MiB) TX bytes:380144 (371.2 KiB)

I have no idea how to proceed from here, after googling around it seems I should install bridge-utils but apt-get doesn't work, so how would I enable / get this happening?

Any help would be great :?
