No problem. v3.027 incorporates the fix as standard (downloadable from http://goo.gl/Ci7Mm)

Sorry for all the little version changes but as a wise person on the forum once said, it's best to get releases out there to bug fix, improve and trouble shoot (as long as there is a method of recovery).

As always, check our the first post for up-to-date info about fixes and tweaks.

Are there any options other than Telnet to install PnP III on post-update OpenPeak Jogglers?

I can't get access to my Joggler through Telnet (although I can't say with any certainty that this is because of the update - I can't print wirelessly either) so I'm unsure whether I can perform some sort of factory update. I'm happy to utilise any sort of convoluted solution to get Internet radio back.

Sorry, it's telnet or nothing at the moment! :(

WOW! Thanks to everyone who is running this and reporting back. Looking at the number of downloads of each version, it looks like more people are having success than are not:

v3.022 (first version - 8th May 2012) 81 downloads
v3.023 (10th May 2012) 58 downloads
v3.024 (11th May 2012) 39 downloads
v3.026 (11th May 2012) 93 downloads
v3.027 (current version - 12th May 2012) 108 downloads

Even allowing for multiple downloads and the chance that some aren't actual downloads by real people, that's pretty cool! Cheers!

Don't forget that 'old' versions on PnP III can be updated to the current 'spec' with the fixes/updates in the first post.

Took the plunge and moved over... looks as always superb!
Now...this is NOT a complaint... but a question

I get the same issue with network access.. on wired and wireless I cant get an address.. - and I have mine set as an allocated address from my router.

Now the really odd thing is - when i try wireless - it can see the SSID OK - but wont authenticate -

I didnt have much time to play with it...- and I'm not sufficiently "Linux" aware to be able to boot an OS on a stick and read any logs on board...unless anyone could give me a hint..

Great to have such an easy way to install - thanks! It all went well for me, apart from one small quirk - I need to move my joggler around and so unplug it. However each time I have, upon rebooting it has got stuck on the O2 screen - which seems a a bit like what happened to rjdavies47.

I've been able to remedy it by reflashing. I wonder if this is something specific to my joggler or something about PNPIII not liking to be unplugged? Has anyone else had this happen?

Think this is Joggler specific - the internal flash can be tempermental. Mine range from not working at all and having to use a USB stick to run Android, to three that are rock solid and can be rebooted as many times as I like!

I have change the setting from DCHP on to off and input router info and it has connected to the network but with no internet.
Am I missing something in the process

Again, I really don't know what's going on with the network on the debranded Jogglers. Mine are all running smoothly.

Can I update to something like Ubuntu and then to PnP III? I guess this makes the big assumption that Telnet will be enabled by a change in OS.

Offbeatdave, great work on this update, am loving the new version!!

I had this problem, where you try and join the wireless network (didn't try wired) and having found the ssid and entered the password you can't connect to the network. I'll post my details of a fix, i know others have but they seem a little lost in the thread. Its a DHCP issue.

Go into Settings - Network

Click the Edit button followed by Advanced.

Enter your Network Type (wireless), Network Name (select your network) your Network Key (network password), turn off DHCP, add a good unused ip address (good example 192.168.0.120), add the gateway address of your router (usually 192.168.0.1), subnet (usually 255.255.255.0), I also added Primary and Secondary DNS. You can google your isp to find DNS details, or find them via a pc connected to the network in the (this case Windows 7) Control panel - network and sharing center - Local Area Connection Status (in my case this is a wired pc) and click the Details button).

I also suffered the date and time issue of it not autoupdating, I solved this by changing the primary NTP server to chronos.csr.net .

Yipee. Someone else who can actually get it to work. I'll copy your post to the thread I've tried to start to combine these issues!

I tried to update my Joggler to PnP Mk III and the instructions say to

4) Type in:
cd /mnt/files <press Enter>
./pnp3op.sh <press Enter>

but I couldn't find a directory name under mnt call files. All I could find was

mnt\PnP3_v3.027\files and in files I found pnp3op.sh. I ran pnp3op.sh and there were loads of errors and now the joggler won't reboot and I can't telnet into it. Does that mean I have a useless joggler or can I recover it somehow?

Help!

This is better in the PnP III thread! :)

To recover, see the thread at http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=2&t=120 or go direct to http://birdslikewires.co.uk

The files and directories from the PnP III should be extracted straight to the root of the USB stick. You shouldn't have made a folder PnP3_v3.027!

Right, finally got Telnet working (only over ethernet though, not wireless) and got lots of "can't create directory" and "read only file system" errors in the Telnet window. Device has booted successfully but it doesn't look like many of the apps are working.

Wonderful!
Everything is working fine except for the usb sound option.
Selecting that in the swf section does not enable the usb sound.
Looking at the script it says: mv asound.conf_USB asound.conf
But I cannot find any file called asound.conf_USB in the etc folder.
Should it be there or am I misunderstanding how it all works (quite likely).
Thanks for all your hard and valued work.

Oh, I'll have a look at this. Might have forgotten to pop it in there! :?

Oops, didn't get in popped in there!

Updating the install, but to make it work try:

Code: Select all

cd /etc
wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77534245/asound.tar
tar xvf asound.tar
rm asound.tar
The script should now work! Will add to first post!

got there in the end with your guide, I had wrong info from router rather than pc, Thank you for your help.
