This was missing from the last OpenPeak update but I could still (and did) reflash my Jogglers. Also, any bootable OS on a stick will still work. I installed it last night out of curiosity and afterwards booted into SqueezePlay OS on a stick.
Yep, no problem with an external OS, just for updates to the native system via USB stick installer.

Couldn't we add this to the image and repackage it?
Yes, I'm sure we could. But it's not there by default, so no PnP / SqueezePlay / SSH using USB installers for the time being.

All that's required is an empty .usb-key file and we're on a roll.
Soooo, cheeky question - does anyone fancy doing this? If so I'll wait to update!! :)

BuZz,

Thanks for all the work that you do in support of us and our Jogglers. I have written your "small" image file to a Kingston DataTraveler 2GB USB stick and in Windows Explorer I can see that there are 11 files on it using 110MB of space. When I plug it into my Joggler and switch it on the O2 screen appears and the data activity light on the USB stick flashes for about 10 seconds and then nothing else happens. All I see is the O2 screen.

Is there anything else that I can do to start the re-flashing process?

Is there a way to install ICS onto the main memory so I don't have to keep a USB Pendrive in it?

try another usb stick perhaps? I have tested the image and it does boot, so it could be a usb stick compatibility issue ?

I did this a bit ago (although I then went back to my own modified version of the stock OS (PnP III).
Have a look at what I did with ICS in this post.

I'd post any further questions in the dedicated ICS threads at http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=2&t=411 and http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=2&t=318 so that the folk in the know come across them.

Thanks for the reply. I am sure that your image is OK but having tried three different usb sticks I still cannot get my Joggler to boot. So I wondered if I could use a usb keyboard to start the process? If so what would I need to type?

Just out of curiosity did anyone else get an immediate ota update when they went online after installing the new openpeak firmware followed by the joggler rebooting itself (two reboots so far)?

Hi,

I have manually installed the new OS and installed PNP 3.
I want to use the BBC i-player. In the old release I could manually enter the DNS adresses (I pass by unblock-US)
With the new release I no longer have access to the DNS values.
Can somebody help me manually configure the DNS adresses?

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean in the iPlayer app itself or the Joggler in general? On the Joggler it is via Settings->Networking->Advanced and then disable use DHCP to pop in your own settings. No idea about the iPlayer app as I don't think I've ever had an option to change the settings.

Having real problems now, my Joggler froze and after a reboot can’t get past the OpenPeak screen. I’ve tried the reflashing tool which I have used before with success but this time after the “waiting for things to settle” screen has finished some text flashes up saying “will now halt” and the Joggler switches off. I’ve also tried the keyboard method with no success.
I have also tried to flash the new OpenPeak 4GB firmware but that gets stuck on a blue screen with an error – unable to format EFI partition.
Is my Joggler finally trashed or is there something else I can try.
Thanks

shaneu: could be a problem with your onboard flash maybe? can you boot into ubuntu (base) or so from usb ? you could then see what it says about the internal flash and we could check if it doesnt read/write.

Looking back at my previous posts, I failed to spot this feature myself back in May last year!

send me a copy of dmesg (this will upload it to my ftp here)

Code: Select all

dmesg >/tmp/dmesg.txt
echo -e "user ftp joggler@example.org\ncd incoming\nput /tmp/dmesg.txt dmesg`date +%s`.txt" | ftp -v -n aero.exotica.org.uk
checking mmcblk0

Hi all,

After the automatic update to the new firmware, it seems like the SSH & Telnet daemons have been overwritten and I can't SSH or Telnet to it any more. So I tried reinstalling it by extracting sshscp.zip to a FAT USB stick, but the new firmware doesn't seem to read the content of the USB stick on boot any more for some reasons.

So, what can I do to get SSH working again?

Thanks.

USB sticks like the SSH one don't work on the new firmware. If you want Telnet working again, reflash the update using the link earlier somewhere in this thread or from the Software Distros on this Forum thread.

Ok thanks! I was hoping to cut the amount of work :) I might just go directly to Xubuntu instead then, because the GUI on the native OS restarts itself once every few days which is pretty annoying.

Buzz hopefully the txt file has been uploaded, the badblocks command returned a no such file or directory while trying to determine device size error message
