how do you mean "xbmc with pvr"? - a new xbmc build ? my xbmc builds are patched to fix touchscreen control - which is needed due to the touchscreen being an absolute pointer device - tis an sdl issue. if you are running other xbmc builds, you will need to apply the same changes i do - which is to make an invisible mouse pointer and turn it on which corrects sdl's behaviour

I'm no coder so i will point you to the xbmc wiki page..

Adding live tv capabilities to your release would be a killer. I don't know how to compile or apply patches.

Thanks for your interest.

I guess I could do a build of this, but it won't happen until I have done the new releases

changes:
use ubuntu 10.10 xserver 1.9 packages
kernel v3.2.16 (one additional patch/revert needed to fix up headphone switching over v3.2.4)
updated grub bootloader - use grub 2.0beta5 rather than custom older patched grub.
packaged mplayer - vaapi enabled mplayer is now on my ppa so I can push out updates
updated xbmc
updated btrfs-tools and other joggler package updates/fixes

please let me know anything you notice that I have missed from the previous release, or that doesnt work as you think it should. thanks.

Haha.. Well at least you won't have to revert Xserver in order to use and therefore it should greatly increase the speed of patching/building. I hope it fixed the vaapi issue from the previous 1.10 release.

Thanks again Buzz!

i will be testing it on xserver 1.9 and 1.10 - ill post the results here (primarily if vaapi is now working on the 1.10 drivers).

I've found one issue so far with Xubuntu and that's with Florence. The keys 'stick' every time they're pressed and therefore repeat each letter over and over. When trying to backspace or choose another character X will crash and bring me back to lightdm. Of course, I can't login because there's no on-screen keyboard and I'm forced to reboot...

Florence was also acting a little "Whacky" in the new Joli OS build (randomly closing) but nothing like this.

i did add the on screen keyboard to accessibility menu of xubuntu lightdm. cant remember if i tested it working though.

strange about the sticky keys - didnt see that but ill try it again. did you wait for the system to settle and do all its io (package stuff etc). also did you adjust the thermal point or you have a heatsink etc ? I suspect its "sticking" due to high load or something.

Haven't gotten to the point of changing the thermal set point as I needed to install openssh and vino server. From the touchscreen without a working keyboard it's kind of a pain :)

Found Xubuntu's built in "onboard" keyboard and trying that now. Will report back.

Btw, the onscreen keyboard during lightdm works 30% of the time. If you toggle it on and off a few times it'll eventually show up so it's not impossible to use.

Wow, talking to myself quite a bit. Changed thermal set point to 80 and now Florence works ok.. WEIRD..

the grub.cfg is on a fat32 partition (partition 1). easy to mount in windows or linux to change the throttle point before putting it into the joggler :)

Confirmed that vaapi is working well within XBMC on both JoliOS and Xubuntu. Keyboard issues disappeared with thermal.psv=80 (severe throttling the issue?).

Everything else that I've tried appears to be working as expected. I'll continue tinkering and see if I can report any bugs.

Let us know how the 1.14 EMGD drivers turn out!

vaapi still broken with emgd 1.14 on xserver 1.10 so ill test and package up the xserver 1.9 version and update my images if they are ok.

I guess the issue is because Meego is still running 1.9 and intel hasn't tested it against anything else? I wonder what the advancements are in the new EMGD vs 1.10
