Disabling backlight dimming on native OS?

Searched through the forums and the (out-of-date?) wiki but to no avail.
I use my Joggler in the kitchen and want to stop the backlight from automatically dimming. I use the native OS and the screensaver acts as my kitchen clock, but it's tough to see once it has dimmed and the kitchen lights are on! Is there a way to stop the dimming so that the screen is permanently at the brightness I've chosen through the settings menu? Thanks!
