Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
You need to checksum the compressed file before unpacking.
Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
I will - but I downloaded it this morning??
Or is it maybe that jzip messes it up in the unpacking process?

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
i adjusted my reply above - you were too quick. the checksum is probably fine.
Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Oh ok!
I checked the md5 of the compressed downloaded image and it is the same as the checksum on your website.
Just to be 100% sure - I decompress the img.gz file and write the .img file to usb stick right?
Hope all goes well now.

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Hm It didn't make any difference, I get the same error message.
I didn't try without the hub plugged in though, because I have to open the Joggler for it. Will try to do tonight.

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Have you got it plugged in to port 4 of the hub ? It won't work on mine unless you do that .
Happy Joggling
Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Excellent Job Buzz.
Love the Kodi update.
Quick question, I have set the PSV value to 80... But it still seems to be freezing every so often. I accept the older version did too... but a lot less frequently.
I take it that the new build is a little more processor intensive? If so, whats the "Safe" max value to set the PSV to?
Thanks in advance

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
I have mine set to 85c. pretty hot eh..
Still working though.
you can still run the older xbmc also - it should still work etc.

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
I tried all ports of the hub, also tried the internal and external port without anything else plugged in but it still refuses to go.
What could be the problem?the f2fs version works but i dont have space left on stick so i need to repartitiate it..

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
any thougths on this one?
I have no clue. Tried each of the available usbports but none works.. Frustrating to know that with others it just works.

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
No idea sorry - don't have the problem here :/ No idea why the f2fs would work but not ext4.
Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Here a few years ago went to just using Buzz's Ubuntu Ext4 builds; well mostly personal reasons.
That said recently built a new Joggler tapping in to a 2.0 USB connection on the motherboard for my 4 port mini USB hub tacked on to the back of the Joggler.
The voltage pieces come from the side USB port.
I am seeing weird stuff on the USB hub like it is drawing too much power and does shut itself off and turns itself on in both Linux and Wintel.
The voltage tap though was documented and I read it and still did it.
Relating to USB builds of yesteryear used larger SSD USB drives. These were power suckers and they did get warm. I made it worse by mounting the USB drive over the WLAN stick inside and that combo was very warm.
I do not know anything these days relating to the power draw of the newer USB 3.0 USB sticks used for an OS these days.
I did do the doo of installing Buzz's last build on a 16GB SSD drive connected to the internal PATA port.
I cannot get it to boot though from the EFI boot rom so I use a 100Mb partition on a tiny USB stick mounted inside of the Joggler. That boot partition boots to the SSD drive and it runs fine.
I have left the current build / configuration on for a few days now and see the following. I have been testing a variety of USB wireless sticks in my search of the right WLAN stick to use as an AP which isn't as easy as I thought it would be.
root@ICS-JogglerAP:~# sensors

I hate to give up so I'm still trying to get the ext4 image work
S0 I bought an USB3 stick; this one:
click link
I am writing the image to disk at this moment. Fingers crossed
EDIT: This stick seems to be actually working with the ext image!

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
well on the new stick it works like a charm!
I was wondering if it's possible to install Logitech Media Server on Xubuntu? Would it then also be possible to use squeezeplay as a player with it?
And a while ago someone stated it was possible to use the wifi card of the joggler as accesspoint.. Does anyone have a clue on how to do that?

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Yeah here lived in South Holland USA (really). Original inhabitants were Dutch farmers from the 1800's. I did enjoy one visit to Holland for the Queen's Day (now King's Day) a few years back. Very nice memories.
Tried to use the Joggler's WLAN stick for a wireless access point a month or so ago. Even named my Joggler build Joggler-AP
Didn't work for me such that I put the cart before the horse. I tried here with two non Joggler USB sticks and the Joggler USB stick. You can though if you want modify a little combo wireless microrouter replacing the OS with OpenWRT and just tack the device to the back of the Joggler. It is tiny, has two NICs, wireless AP. You can do it all with this little microrouter. Well too thinking I paid $15-20.00 USD for it; such that it is a throw away if you brick it.
I read up on it and there are designated WiFi sticks that will work. I didn't have any of them around here.
Popular PFSense WLAN cards use Atheros, Marvell, Ralink and Lucent/Intersil Prism.
Googled some and saw a few on Amazon which were very reasonably priced and worked well as AP's.

I've migrated here to using USB SSD / ZIF SSD Pata cards. The ZIF SSD PATA card fits right over the USB WLAN stick. Gets hot but works fine.

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Kodi 15.1 is now available from the Joggler repository - you can apt-get update / upgrade to install it.
I will be pushing out some new images with updated packages in the next day or so.
