ICS X86 Source Out!

Post by jazzmista »

The source for x86 Ice Cream Sandwich is now out, and it is available to get here...

http://www.android-x86.org/getsourcecode

Can anyone provide a list of drivers that were needed to get this running for Froyo? Also, is anyone planning to port this? I might try if I get the time!

If anyone wants to port this apart from myself , we should set up a Git repo somewhere so people who want to get involved can do :-)

Is anyone else having issues with $ repo init (ie command not found) after following the Android Build Environment instructions? http://source.android.com/source/initializing.html

ICS would be amazing!

Realistically, what are the chances of getting this going, considering the progress already achieved with Android?

*facepalm*
Thought it was all covered in "Initialising the Build Environment", as I saw git-core listed as one of the packages and assumed it would install repo...

how would one go about enabling 3d acceleration? just thinking if the other gma 500 devices have it running with 3d it should not be too difficult to get it going on the joggler.

you need a driver with 3d support first. That's all I know ;-)

There are plenty of drivers for android and the gma500, but all only support 2d,

the only clue i found was about editing a ubuntu driver to work with android, but thats way past my knowledge. ICS would be cool on the joggler though!

going back to windows for now, but I will learn how to build linux/android one day lol

After my *issues* with repo, I'm finally downloading the source now! :-) Will have a look for more gma500 devices. Have found this though... http://code.google.com/p/gma500/ that appears to have 3D support?

Also found an article on this (http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n ... &px=NzY2Mg) that states that the stumbling block for 3D on GMA500 is Gallium3D being closed source, but it appears to be open source (at least partly) now? The Gallium3D website is here: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/gallium. There may be hope yet!

+1 for a Buzz build lol , but I fear Buzz is quite busy enough with his good work
If you do fancy a fiddle with android @Buzz there's an app that was made for you , its a windows 7 theme that makes the whole build look like , well , W7, he he he
Pretendy Linux Pretending to be W7 , nice one ...

It might be worth contacting Muji for info re drivers. AFAIK someone (possibly asantaga) managed to get his email address. Muji's download page is at http://www.mporting.com/download/

Same!

I wouldn't mind having a poke around with it however! :ugeek:

Have you downloaded it yet Buzz? If so would it be possible to reupload it to a github or similar so we can all work on it? I can understand if you don't want to do that though (upload limits and all!) :)
