I've loaded Build 3 and am running it on a HDD. Great work!

I'd really like to use the xp joggler as a Squeezebox server - has anybody managed to get Logitech Media Server running on Build 3? I've installed it but when I try click to start the server the server just stops after a few moments. No other problems with Build 3 so far.

Update: just noticed that in the Logitech Media Server Control Panel Diagnostics tab it has 'Possible software conflict found' in the 'Alerts' section. I don't know what that means though.

TVersity service is running on build 3 too. You will probably have to uninstall that before installing squeezebox server.

Do you actually need to install squeezebox server, does squeeze player not see a TVersity uPNP server? TVersity is happy to stream movies and music over my network to the XBOX and HTPC.

Mevi, I have a question re: your boot logo on build 3. As you've stated, the O2 logo stays longer on the screen (though it's somewhat corrupted/less sharp) when it actually starts to boot Windows. Why does it not show the joggler picture that you're calling in the .nsh file and instead show O2?

Tested here Mevi; working well. Ah, but I couldn't wait to do the EWF stuff and started to mix it in (I should leave well enough along) following Maxmans written stuff about it. I like the quiet logo boot; but still wanting to see the stream of what it was loading went back for the time being. I guess though when I quit paying attention; the O2 Logo thing will be the primary choice for booting.

I like the TVersity server. Been using it here for years. I have noticed as Squeezebox become commercial Logitech product; it got a bit larger. Today though utilize the wireless Logitech Keyboard/Mouse combos; way nicer that the MS Bluetooth combos battery wise. Funny I use the touchscreen Logitech remote and my wife uses a multitude of remotes still as her preference. I have this little media tanks with 2.5 1TB drives in them next to the LCD TV's. They server also as UPNP players for the TVersity box. They are basic Patriot Box Office boxes; chrooted a bit via a USB stick. I went overboard a bit with these (5 now). So small though I have a couple velcroed to the backs of the TVs.

The boot logo.... I hoped the extra EFI script to display a logo would work and even kinda put one together just for that purpose. I forgot to edit it out when it didn't work. The logo goes 'furry' just ahead of the half screen corruption. No idea why, but perhaps something to do with the vga driver?

The standard audio driver, without the patched ini file disables the speaker while leaving the headphone working, but you get low level video interference coming out of the speakers. Little ticks, fizzes and pops. Not found a way yet to disable that and I'm a bit of an obsessive about these things. It's a backwards step, I know, but might be an acceptable solution for some. Mevi,

Thank-you for the updated audio driver link.

My wife does complain about my "machines" all the time. In the summer time here though she likes the house to be refrigerated; literally will manually set the thermostat air conditioner controls to 65F; chilling things a bit. Almost see my breath on a hot summer morning here. That said I do have temperature/Humidity sensors all over the house looked at by one of the "machines". Its a bit different here. Everyone wants a glass of ice with their water and typically in the summer go from air conditioned house to air conditioned car to air conditioned office. My automobile remote/timed/temperature starter will start the vehicle and run it for about 15 minutes with either the heat on or the AC on. Its become somewhat of a norm here. Folks leave their cars running with heat or cooling on when they go shopping. Initially when I stayed there for a bit of time I was taking those green cabs everywhere; then I started to walk a bunch more or less exploring on the way to and from work. I did have a tube station nearby and another one by the office there (across the street from the office actually).

One of my peers actually did a 2.5 hour commute by train every morning into London; that was a bit of a stretch. It was only a couple of Christmas's back he was here for about 2 days a little bit before Christmas. He was on a toy expedition mission. It was a cold snowy night as we drove around the north side of Chicago looking for specialty toy store. We found it; nothing special; all the toys were in boxes with cryptic number on them in about 6 rows of shelves maybe 3 meters high. Called up his wife; it was 8 PM here so middle of the morning there in London. He went thru the toy shopping list one item by one item for maybe 1 hour or so. Interesting to watch the scenario taking place.

The machines keep me out of trouble.

BTW Trained my parrot; "Kika" to work for food by her turning a wheel which drive a centrifugal forced 50 KW generator turbine which charges up a room full of batteries for peanuts and cashews (non salted of course); in turn keeping her house cool. Works but she no longer can deal with the heat either; and she came from the middle of a tropical jungle.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrifugal_force

My initial audio stuff when the audio was only output by the audio jack I tested with a very old IBM computer speaker that is powered by the USB port. I did hear pops and clicks and all kinds of noise coming from it until it was at the desktop. Then it was quiet. It was like I could "hear" the read writes to the USB devices. It didn't really bug me just cuz it was only present during boot time.

Thanks for the reply. Squeeze player couldn't find TVersity so I uninstalled it. Logitech Media Server still won't run though - I've installed it and the control panel works ok, but when I click to start the server it stops after just a few moments. I've never had this problem before so am a bit stumped. Btw, the logitech control panel 'alert' I mentioned earlier re a software conflict no longer shows. I've rebooted a few times, uninstalled and reinstalled logitech, but no joy. Same thing each time.

There might be a service that the server depends on that is either stopped or disabled on LITE. Follow the desktop shortcut and load DEFAULT or SLIGHT registry files and after a reboot, see if the server starts then.

My machines get me IN trouble. My partner says I spend all my time doing this and I am bordering on the obsessive. At least I don't spend all my evenings watching reruns on the TV like a lot of people do. I don't know anyone in the UK who has aircon outside of the car or office, only heating for the autumn and winter months. We have ours on now, but its a new-ish house so the insulation is good enough that it doesn't need to be on long to warm the house through.

Back to the subject of the bitmap that wouldn't display from the boot efi script... I also couldn't get the script to echo something like Joggler loading. I used the same syntax as detailed in intel's documentation.

It's portable. I think it'll work on any Windows machine. See the dedicated thread for all the info, but some are running the player on their HTPC, too.

another note about the fallback audio drivers that disable the speaker, when prompted, you will need to provide these windows files during the installation.
audio driver extra files.zip
(287.13 KiB) Downloaded 1466 times
The reason being that the driver cache was deleted to keep the download nice and small-ish.

Thanks again for the advice. Unfortunately still no joy. I loaded default (just double clicked on it), rebooted, uninstalled then reinistalled Logitech server. Same problem - server starts, then stops itself after a few moments. I'm not that knowledgeable on these matters so it could be that I've missed something very obvious. Internet connection is fine - surfing web is much faster than with Linux builds.

I did a quick 15minute google and I noted that some people tried an earlier build of the server and it worked... for them anyway. I saw references to v7.6 being ok, whereas 7.7 was not.... for them. :D

Hope that helps.

Thanks again. I tried that out - I found a copy of 7.5.1 and installed that after uninstalling the latest version. The server stays running for much longer but still closes down after I click to scan my music folder. Not sure what to try now, but I don't want to hog the thread or your time!

stumped.... I'd suggest posting a question on a forum there, but it's a question that's complicated by running on a machine that shouldn't even be running windows, had it not been for a whole load of hacks and tricks.
