There is: https://web.archive.org

You can use the Internet Archive to explorer websites from a particular period in time. If it was a popular website, chances are it will be in the archive.

However, most downloads and any closed forms will not be accessible.

hawsey wrote: Thu Aug 03, 2017 8:07 pm I've noticed on things like BBC bite size for my 7 year old some times they will have an " imbed this in to your own page " and some flash code .
Would this likely work on a Joggler ? There are some good educational games on there .
I've just had a quick look at this and most of the Flash based BBC bitesize games will work on the Joggler, unless they are linked to external files such as log files, mp3's etc. Here's the easiest method:

1. Look in the source "View page source" (as pete said), on the page you want to download the .SWF file from.

or... Copy the .SWF URL from the flash code box (Share on your site thingi)

The BBC downloads appear to be located in http://downloads.bbc.co.uk

For example: http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks3 ... /intro.swf

From: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks3/games/spherox/

2. Access the extracted .SWF URL and download the .SWF file by clicking "Save page"

3. Using SCP, copy the file into /media/appshop/flash

4. Use the "SWF Launcher" on the joggler, click on "Flash" and run the SWF file

Be quick as the BBC is updating all old flash content to HTML5, so the older pages may be archived or disappear completely.

Just got around to updating my jogglers to pnpIII v3.6, two already in service, the very last one would not flash.
It took the latest firmware and I restarted it, then tried pnpIII after that nothing, even tried using unr to make an image of one of the working jogglers and DDing it to the none working still nothing, looks like that one is calling for the PATA mod.

By the way thanks for the update Craig, makes a big difference to the functionality.

Have you tried doing a regular Ubuntu boot and a repair of the 1Gb EMMC (not sure if you can do this anyways)?

BTW relating to the Openpeak 2 larger device it does have traces for a microSD card. I never got around to getting only test working on the Openpeak 2 open motherboard. This would be an easier small footprint easy fit inside of the case solution.

Hi Pete
Yes I have tried doing a repair, I have dd'd a complete image to the mmc and I can mount the partitions in ubuntu and see all the files but it will not boot.
I have flashed Squeezeplay OS to this one and it is working ok so I'm leaving it at that.

Thank you Craig for the update to PnP III !!!!!

@mickchip...try a swap on the the boot rom, maybe too a hot-swap, and then a rewrite of the rom from booting rom.

Been tinkering with GeoBlocking (PFSense - MaxMind) and keep blocking myself...

Thanks Craig, I haven't been on here for a looooong time, but just installed PNP III this afternoon and once I found the right USB stick, it installed like a dream.

Thanks for this new image.
I'm having some issues unfortunately...
Perl seems to be missing from the path (missing from /usr/bin), so the LMS doesn't run.
I went back to the stock Openpeak image, then reinstalled OffbeatDave's 3.5 and perl / LMS is there.
I've done this a couple of times now.
Have I missed an install step?
Ideas anyone?

Hi Craig
Thanks for your work on this - I am amused to see my quick hack to stop the 'phone home' problem getting incorporated into a proper SW release ;-)

One thing - I am unable to get the loung radio app to work properly. All the stations I have tried (exclusively BBC National stations FWIW) start off working, but within a few seconds I get a green error 'dialog box'. I can get the specific error if that would help anyone but it's along the lines of 'connection failed'.

The Lounge app used to work fine, but I was having similar problems before with an earlier version of PnP III, and was hoping that your tweaks to the radio streams XML would fix things. Anyone any idea what might be happening here?

Oh, FWIW I use the Joggler with an External DAC via USB, not that I imagine this makes any difference.

Cheers
Jon N

Hmm, no responses

Does that mean the Radio Lounge app is working well for everyone else?

Thanks, Jon N

Hi Jon N,

I've tested the BBC streams and I get the same "connection failed" issue. However, when I tested the streams a few months back they all seemed to work fine.

I'm using the MP3 BBC streams. For example BBC R4 is MP3 (mpga) 128kb/s, Capital FM Birmingham is also MP3 (mpga) 128kb/s and works fine all day without any connection loss.

After looking into the problem, what’s happening is that the BBC streams drop out just after buffering (basically they drop a few packets). Most players such as VLC player and even squeezeplay ignore this packet loss and continue to play the stream. The lounge radio app however picks up on this and displays the error message "connection failed". The MP3 BBC streams also drop out regularly on all players especially during peak times.

I've tried reducing the reliability tag down in the XML script (jogContent.xml), the same with the audioquality to no effect.

This is both a BBC issue and down to bad programming within the lounge radio app. If it ignored the packet loss like other players no problem would occur and if the BBC didn't mess around with the streams every few weeks it also would be better.

Sonos also have the same problem with BBC streams: https://en.community.sonos.com/music-se ... ly-6731423

Unfortunately I don't know how to solve this issue with the lounge radio app. Another problem is that the BBC have dropped support for mp3 streaming and are migrating to the DASH format https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... -stations for Internet radio; this is probably why they are not bothered with the MP3 streaming issues. DASH streams are supported via squeezeplay and are very reliable so it's probably best to use that instead.

More info: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/internet/ent ... 890a8fed8f

BTW thanks for the fix. Whilst there are loads of complex methods to stop the joggler phoning home, your fix was simple and worked the best.

Regards, Craig

Hi keynet,

Please have a look at the installation steps on page 1. Remember you don't need to install version 3.5 before installing 3.6.

Steps: Apply the original openpeak firmware (Version 30300), let it run once, turn off the power and install PNP3 v3.6 from USB

LMS works fine on V3.6

Craig

Hi Craig
[lots of good stuff snipped]

Thanks, that's all very helpful and makes sense of a few things. Thanks for taking the trouble to find this out. Those are some useful links as well, thanks for those. I have a bit of an interest in audio formats etc. but am a bit out of date.
DASH streams are supported via squeezeplay and are very reliable so it's probably best to use that insteadI
Yes, it looks like that might be best. With earlier PNPIII releases I am sure I used to have 'Radio' come up at or near the top level of the Squeezeplay menu, but I cannot see it at the moment (cursory look only). Am I just being daft, or is there a plugin I need to install etc.?
BTW thanks for the fix. Whilst there are loads of complex methods to stop the joggler phoning home, your fix was simple and worked the best.
Yes, sometimes a cheap solution is the best...

Well OK, but I did start from original Openpeak firmware (Version 30300) (of1_30300_openpeak), then installed 3.6. I did the whole thing twice to confirm - same issue. Call me stupid, but I then went back to the Openpeak yet again, this time I installed 3.5 to be sure, and it works fine as before. V3.5 has perl.tgz inside the archive, 3.6 doesn't, could that be it? Downloaded from http://www.mediafire.com/file/4ig3hrxpg ... pdated.zip

You are spot on. I've just realised what I've done

I uploaded it correct initially. I was then trying to update perl.tgz to include the SSL extensions (too much work) and when I updated the zip file a few weels later to include a new user guide, I forgot to include the original perl.tgz

Really sorry about that, my fault entirely. I've updated both links. Well spotted and thanks for pointing it out

That's my fault, see my last post. Whilst the initial upload was fine, when I updated the zip file I forgot to include perl.tgz. This is why squeezeplay is missing icons. I've updated the links now, so it's probably easier to reflash.

I've put some instructions on the first page on how to update the BBC plugin for DASH streams and catch-up.

Nice job with the update mate, we appreciate your input! Update worked first time like a charm having not updated for several years at least.

I was thinking about my Joggler the other day, I basically use it as a gateway to my stereo connected via a dac. It's great for Spotify and BBC which is basically all I use it for. Sometimes my wife whinges though as she thinks the interface is a little clunky, and the "why can't she just airplay her iphone to it?!" Question was raised.

That got me thinking. I found some libraries for the Apple Airplay protocol, https://github.com/jamesdlow/open-airplay. I know nothing about the software that PnP uses, I'm fairly good with linux, although it's been a while. I was wondering whether we could install an airplay server to it, and then stream media from an idevice easily which will output via the Joggler's usb to dac to my stereo.

It got me thinking, as Kodi has an airplay server and i know there are kodi builts for the Joggler, but i don't want to lose the other bits of functionality i use it for, could i install Kodi as an app for PnP?

Good idea about an Airplay PNP III app pukington :-)

Kodi won't work on PNP III
Kodi ( specially built ) works great on the Joggler using BuZz,s Xubuntu build which also has Squeezeplay on it , it can be set up to auto boot to either .
Also your DAC will be fine on that as well if Airplay is what you need ( I haven't tried Airplay )

You can get a plugin for AirPlay via squeezeplay on PNP3. There is an official one and some 3rd party ones that are better supported. I don't have an iPhone so have no way of testing it, but have a look at the logitech squeezebox site http://forums.slimdevices.com/forumdisp ... y-Software or research "airplay plugin for squeezebox". There's probably also some tutorials on YouTube

This would be the easiest way to get airplay working on PNP3.
