New Here

Post by Rory »

Hello, I am new here, I have recently acquired several joggers from eBay to mess around with and have tried to follow the instructions to add new software from this site but I cannot seem to get the joggler to do anything other than load the original O2 Software... Perhaps I'm being really stupid? I am using a MacBook.... Does that matter?I have bought new USB sticks etc as many have mentioned that the type of stick can be an issue but still nothing... Any help would be appreciated...

Welcome to the Joggler forum Rory.

I am using a MacBook.... Does that matter?

no

I have bought new USB sticks etc

These should work.

The EFI boot sticks are a bit fussy.

Thanks for the reply - I have loaded the stuff onto the various sticks, unplugged the joggler, plugged in the stick, plugged in the joggler and it just boots as normal...

Have you purchased O2 Jogglers or Openpeak tabletop tablets?

I've seen issues with the efi boot rom and boot on the MMC preventing the USB from being recognized.

Are the Jogglers booting to an updated MMC or original MMC?

Try using this program to write an image to a USB stick:

Etcher at https://etcher.io/

and the blind typing thing using a USB hub with the boot stick and a USB keyboard.

Hit the esc key continuously while booting. Wait for the keyboard LED to flash on the second time then type:

fs1:

and enter a couple of times

then type:

boot

and enter

See what happens. You cannot break anything.

If I remember right PPP III takes ages to work , you make your stick up , plug it in , switch on then go away for a cuppa , 30 mins later come back and it will be done :-) it stops and starts a few times and looks like it is not working but it is .

Now that you are up and running what function would you like the Joggler to do for you ?
There is no denying that PNPIII is finger friendly and works well .
There is also Squeezeplay OS for music
Or Xubuntu , a full blown Linux distribution which runs Squeezeplay also and Kodi amoungst other things .
Most boot straight off a usb stick and you do not overwrite the internal with them like PNPIII .

Nice one Rory :-)
Other ones to try on Efi boot are Xubuntu ( Linux ) , Squeezeplay OS for music , XP ( some where ) just ask ,
For PNP III look through the PNP thread and post on there , you will get there eventually .
