Stream from Vu+/dreambox to joggler - possible?

Post by joggly »

Now I've got another spare joggler up and running SPOS3, wondering if it is possible to stream live TV from my Vu+2 Duo through http? The vu+ I've has hardware transcoding and will be kind of tunercard(???). Or that will be pushing too far the little joggler :D

720 / 480 streaming works OK. 1080 streaming would be a pushing it a bit. Best streaming is SD / 480.

I can live with that but is there any instructions on how to do this?

BTW thanks for giving some hope :-)

Here utilize the VLC plugin to my Firefox browser. That said here on the other side of the pond my resources are different than yours; IE: Vu+2 Duo.

Are you wanting to do this from within SqplOs ? If so I'm not sure shat would be possible , I could be wrong though .
You could do it from within Xubuntu booting off a stick in the side of the Joggler .
Do you just want to stream from your box to say a browser on the Joggler ?

I misread first post here.

As hawsey mentions you can do this with a booting XUbuntu USB stick configuration.

I would've preferred on SPOS as the whole interface is very clean and simple to use but Xubuntu image probably is more capable. I've already made xubuntu USB and booted up. Is there any way to use unused 4GB partition of USB?

will report back later.

update: works very good using browser (openwebif).

Yes. Use GParted on another Linux machine and insert the USB stick and expand the partition.

If your on windows you can use Paragon Partition Manager™ 14 Free to expand the partition.
That's what I used.

@pete @mickchip..thanks for info. I'll try with Paragon as my version of mini partition seems to lack the option.

I've installed enigma2 plugin for kodi and it's updating channel list now :ugeek:

Yayyyyy...it's working!!! especially recordings are almost flawless. Even the live channels after intial buffer plays smoothly and watchable in joggler's screen. For video to show up, I've to disable hardware acceleration and choose software. Is this right?

Trying the hardware acceleration (DXVA2) available with Jarvis on the W10 set up of KODI and it seems to work well these days.

Haven't tried it yet on the Ubuntu set up.

Here is a quickie snapshot of a MythTV recording. Note this is via VNC remote.

Don't have an option for DXVA2. Updated Kodi to jarvis 16.1 by mistake. Will try to redo everything some other day.

Yes the DXVA2 option is only on the Windows Joggler here. The Ubuntu Joggler (updated) option is only VDPAU (?).

Historically have always enabled hardware acceleration.
