the Daphile on the website boots on the joggler with the files posted on here by Mickchip so is this build you are working on different to that in the way it boots ?

The base live Daphile version works fine editing (replacing) the EFI boot files (changing UEFI to EFI Joggler boot).

That said I am guessing most folks will want to run the non-live version of the program.

To create a non live version just plug in a USB stick with nothing on it.

The live application will request to write a UEFI or MBR boot to the stick and the rest of the OS which works fine on just about any new PC or old PC today except for the Joggler.

It would be easy for the author to automate the write of the live to non live version of the application adding the Joggler EFI stuff in to his stuff.

That said if I change the the release beta test version such that it boots with the Joggler then it will break his program if you try to update it and it is a beta version that I would give back to the author and not for release.

Best mechanism would be to edit the firmware write such that it includes the Joggler EFI boot stuff; well and that is something the author should do.

It is only a script (probably a bash script) that runs that formats and creates the boot UEFI and MBR boot on the non live version. He would have to include the Joggler EFI boot files in his script which is really not a big deal sort of.

I do not know if the author will do that or wants to do that. I have provided to him the pieces needed to do that and have not gotten a response relating to endeavor.

I have suggested / offered to him a Joggler (he pays for shipping). He did mention though about maybe selling the program (in response to my sending him a free Joggler).

The other side of the coin on this endeavour would be if he made his non live version work with the Joggler he would have a few of us testing his wares for free on the Joggler or any of the openpeak devices.

The testing beta testing software should come from the author and not from me.

That said editing the Live USB stick and using the application in live mode will work sort of running from a pure fat32 stick. It would be like running any live ISO boot disk today.

Cheers for that Pete , I think the program is ideal for the joggler just like Squeezeplay os and it could work good with that I think .
I think the Dev would love Daphile working on the Joggler .

Sorry to be a wet blanket. I tried Daphile on a PC - it's okay-ish. But I fail to see what it really adds over sqpos3 running LMS.

I can't see any more than a handful of people using it on a joggler

Today provided what Daphile author needs file & script wise for writing firmware a non live version of his AP on the Joggler.

I am pretty sure you are correct castalla ,Squeezeplay Os has most bases covered for us already , I just think it would be a nice option to have in our Os portfolio he heh .

I love the wireless hot spot feature also if we could get it to work the rip CD option would also be great for anyone wanting a neat , cheap way to rip a large CD collection , a bit like one of those Brennan rippers .

Yesterday was the second email.

No ack received to first and yesterday's emails.

My guess is that he is not interested.

That said then I guess we can just play with live version.

Here found (never paid attention) some Joggler USB sticks with the antenna built in. I don't remember if they came from O2 Jogglers or Openpeak devices.

They do work functioning as an AP. I could not get the O2 Joggler USB WLAN stick (with wire antennas) to work as an AP.

That's a shame , by
I've never had a one with a built in antenna and I've only had Jogglers .

I emailed the guy before you Pete , then let you carry on , seems like a nice chap , I'm sure if he saw a Joggler with the DAC installed running Squeeze play os he would be hooked ha ha , that being said he probably has his hands full developing his Daphile software .

So this Daphile would be able to Serve to Jogglers with Squeeze play os installed is that right ?
Might have another play this weekend :-) ( scratch that its Valentines Sunday )

Yes; the author of Daphile; Kimmo Taskinen is a nice chap.

The whole AP thing was found by accident when playing here the variety of Joggler O2 / OpenPeak included devices. The larger Openpeak has a combination WLAN and Bluetooth mini PCIe card.

So this Daphile would be able to Serve to Jogglers with Squeeze play os installed is that right ?

No. You can utilize the Squeezeplayer server to serve up your media to Daphile media server and or media player.

I didn't try to connect a SqueezePlayer Joggler to the Daphile Media server; so I do not know. I will give it a go.

What makes it a bit different is that the web gui manages the software GUI (squeeze player on or off mode, and very granular digital audio controls are present on the web gui or you can use the stock Squeezeplayer GUI audio controls). What becomes an issue is that the non live software update rewrites all of the firmware the USB stick. The software is beta. It is updated. While this is a nice to have way to update via the remote web gui; it will write over any modifications you made. Here my media server DB scanning hit a glitch and that was just a corrupted audio art file or something; it stopped it working and restarting it would try to scan the messed up file. I could really just delete the problem child file and be done with it; just never really ever look cuz it just works with squeezeplayer / squeezeserver.

Just thinking about last year Valentine's day daughter stuff. I did a short video / music compiled from her birth video (thinking originally used sony 8mm way way back). I had had a long evening and was going to bed around 2AM. Sleep just came to me and at 3AM water bag broke. I was half asleep and asked if we could wait until later in the morning. (thinking I said this in a dream or something). That said got up mechanically. The hospital was only 15 minutes away. As we were going between the two glass doors of the hospital entrance daughters head started to crown. It happened really fast and I had brought my video camera and was recording everything and helping the nurse. After my daughter was born; the nurse looked up at me and noticed the video camera. She did tell me I was not allowed to record video. I did complete the video anyways. It was only maybe 5 minutes long if that at all.

She and I are a wee bit older these days and we do connect even when we do not see or talk to each other for days or weeks. I am a bit crankier these days and sometimes overly protective when I shouldn't be because I know she does well taking care of herself. Me being old and cranky just wants to just eliminate and clean up things that get in her way relating to what bad my crop up; well and I guess a lot of fathers can be this way.

Just a short note that the author of Daphile; Kimmo Taskinen wrote to me a couple of days ago asking about the Joggler EFI boot stuff.

While I am not really good at this stuff I sent him the configuration that I used (with files) for the modifications to his live boot stick. I also sent him the files and methodologies to boot Ubuntu. While he doesn't have an O2 hopefully he can include these files for creation of a working Daphile stick created from a live boot Daphile stick.

The only differences that I see is that he is doing the standard current UEFI booting stuff with the kernel et al on the 2nd partition (extXX) rather than the Ubuntu way of loading the kernel on the EFI FAT partition.

Have got the screen off my OP 2 and removed 7 screws.
how do I get to the board, surround still seems to be fixed.

OK found the other screw under the white paper, finally got it apart.
Noticed it has a place for a sim card as well as the sd card.

Looked at one here that has the screws out and is apart. Its been a couple of years and yes there were 8 screws holding it together. I do not remember the white paper over the middle botton screw. Yes and underneath is the soldered on EFI rom chip. On the front there too is a DECT socket with nothing plugged in to it. Flip side also has an RTC battery and I recall it does keep time.

It will not work with Seabios.

Got it to work with EFI boot fine.

Hi Pete, do you know how to flash back my original EFI backup file?
thanks

It is easy.

Boot up with a hub and keyboard and USB stick with an original EFI boot ROM. Notice that there are two F prompts on Seabios Boot.

One is to read in a new bios. Just put that bios on the USB stick and hit the F7 or F12 key. (I cannot remember which). Will check.

I have Daphile booting on the EFI Joggler, I used a 16gb SSD stick and copied the contents of the iso to it.
I then used these files (attached) copied to the root of the stick. I could only get it to work connected to Ethernet.
After booting connect through a browser using the address displayed on the joggler screen.
After shutdown from the settings on your browser screen, remove the stick and put some music in the music folder.
You can then restart & play the music through the joggler from a browser on any other pc, phone etc
