No problem, it should still work just fine!

That should get it working and I think the only stuff left to do is cosmetic (and making it not necessary to have a keyboard or SSH session to have it install).

Nothing seems to happen :(

Interesting... okay, I'll take a look...

I'm an idiot. Try:

Code: Select all

sudo of-install squeezeplay

That fixed it.

Well it did on the second usb stick...sigh

The now playing screen turns off after a couple of seconds ;)

I'm using an old "betting shop" joggler at the moment.

Will play over the next few days.

Looking forward to the finished package.

Any luck with the wireless on the Cisco joggler ?

Nay, unless Broadcom change their licensing it's as good as it's going to get for now. To be honest, I've not needed to use mine in a while, so I've not even thought about it. Necessity being the mother of invention and all that.

Hi,

How is everyone? (As you'll notice, I'm doing fine.)

THANKS!
First of all a big thanks to all of you making it possible to just be able to write this post.
(With a nice touch of combining an O2 joggler, Squeezeplay OS, CCH and Custom Clock, SDT, where else can you find a nifty device that groups it all: weather, now playing info, date and time, analog VU and spectrum analyzer, all in one screen?)

GIVEN:
At a secondary location I'm currently running a small solution with one joggler (this one also is running server) and one Radio.
The installation is stable.

Server Specs:
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.8.0 - 1395409907 @ Thu Mar 27 13:20:53 PDT 2014
Hostname: openframe
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8 (I.E. squeezebox OS 3.03)
Platform Architecture: i686-linux
Perl Version: 5.18.2 - i686-linux-gnu-thread-multi-64int
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)

Everything runs from a 128GB memory stick
(I've tweeked the original Sqeezeplay OS 3.03 very slightly to run SMB share, allowing me to upload music to the music container over the network)

GOAL:
I would like to run the material skin, which requires version 7.9 or above from server side.

QUESTIONS:
So I was wondering:
-Is it at all possible to run material skin from this setup?
-If so: is there a "best approach" to upgrade (preferably just the LMS server)

Kind regards,
Berns

Hi Berns

Seven year old LMS! deffo time for an update :)

http://downloads.slimdevices.com/

I would advise against the version 8 as many of the plugins might not work.

If you have the space on the stick then the LMS should install over the top.

If really tight for space then

Code: Select all

sudo apt remove logitechmediaserver
will remove the bulk and leave the prefs (and I think the cache) ready for the fresh install.

With regard to Material Skin gui you would need to run a "Desktop" on the Joggler and use it as the default LMS skin.

You won't be able to do that with sqpOS, but maybe with the Bionic build.

The Bionic build is tricksey in my opinion, it needs some tlc. ;)

This might interest you

https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthre ... post935724

But I think the best, is to run LMS on a raspberry pi and just use the Joggler as a controller (you can then keep your weather display)

Trying to setup a dusty joggler on USB but won't go past Switch library try again screen. I've SSH with joggler/joggler but above code is giving error command not found.

Oh, sorry, the mention of "of" in your post confused me, I had not paid any attention to the Thread Header.

Do you already have a LMS instance running that the Joggler can connect to ? (that used to work for me)

yes running on windows. It does detect the name but no matter what won't connect to it.

Well, I have had quite an adventure this morning, I decided to check out the sqpos303 external image.

First try did not go well, as I had forgotten the correct procedure and tried to install the extenal on the internal :? :(

Then I tried three different usb sticks with the external image, nada on all three :x :? :(

Next up I reflashed the internal to OpenPeak 30301 and checked that all was well :) :D

Popped in one of the early failure usb sticks and sailed through the setup. It identified the LMS on a Window 10 Pro desktop without a problem. :) :D

That's all I can offer, sorry :|

Hello everyone,

for some strange reason, my O2 Joggler, running stable for a long time on the sqpos303_of1.img somehow slipped up, and failed to boot.
I had to reflash it, and after that, for some reason, it somehow thinks that my LMS requires an update (see attached screenshot), and stubbornly refuses to connect. My LMS is a Ubuntu server, specs below:

Logitech Media Server Version: 8.1.1 - 1610364019 @ Thu Jan 14 06:22:21 CET 2021
Hostname: panther
Server IP Address: 192.168.2.2
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux
Perl Version: 5.30.0 - x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
Audio::Scan: 1.02
IO::Socket::SSL: 2.067
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.58 (sqlite 3.22.0)
Total Players Recognized: 7

I should probably mention that until that hickup and reflashing, this exact system had no qualms whatsoever connecting to this very server and playing whatever I want to it to play...only after reflashing this "hey, update your server, mate"-nonsense began...
This message appears directly after choosing the target LMS (in my case either Panther (my LMS) or mysqueezebox.com - but seriously, who goes there?)

Any idea what might be wrong, here?

Help would be much appreciated...

Greetings and may you all stay safe and healthy out there!

BlackIC

@ BlackIC

have you updated the LMS to 8.1.2 ?

and did you reflash with sqpos 303?

The Server is using LMS 8.1.1, as stated above. I also can't find a 8.1.2 version on the download site on http://downloads.slimdevices.com/ ?

The image I used for flashing is the one from this post: https://birdslikewires.net/squeezeplay-os, for the O2 Joggler. (SqueezePlay OS Version 3.03 OpenFrame 1)
It's the very same I used to flash the Joggler from when I did it the first time, as I still have the USB stick from back then lying around - I keep these things for exactly these reasons... :)

here is a link to LMS v 8.1.2 if you want to try that route

http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightl ... hp?ver=8.1

On your Squeezeplay; when you go to My Music and try to connect, scroll down to Switch Library and do you have two entries there, both with the same name ?

If so select the one that does not have a tick against it, see if that connects

Thank you all for your quick responses...It's working again now.

Thanks to the links provided, I was able to update the server to 8.2.0, and the Joggler immediately connected once the updated server was up and running again.

Thank you all!

Hi Ronnie,
Hi other happy jogglers,

Thanks for your response. Ideally I would like to keep LMS running on the O2 Joggler.
Yes indeed, high time to update!!!

I need to be clearer on what I'm looking for.
Openframe 3.03 essentially is a version of Debian linux. (I hope that is correct.)
As I'm not a Linux pro, I'm basically looking for a step by step set of Linux commands to move from LMS 7.8 to LMS 7.9.3 or higher.
As a result of such upgrade LMS would automatically feature the material skin.

For more details see some background information below in this message.

Kind regards,
Berns

I'm running 2 instances of LMS at 2 different spots (these are entirely independent from eachother). Each have one O2 joggler client in the install base.

On 1 spot, the "on site spot", there is an O2 Joggler (and a bunch of other devices) connected to a Windows based LMS.
This LMS runs version 8. It does the job faithfully for many years now.
This Joggler runs the weather display wonderfully.
At this spot I control the devices using the "squeeze ctrl" app from a few android based devices
(no iWhatsoever devices on this reference "on site spot")

I've very briefly been running a SB radio at this spot, connected to LMS v8 and it was running fine.
(I mention this because the Radio has been moved to spot 2, see below, and it is maybe worth to know that the particular radio runs fine with version 7.9.3 as well as version 8. There have been some people struggling to run a SB radio in combination with LMS 8)
I should try and use material at "on site spot" to control the joggler on that one reference spot, and will do that soon, and report the result.

My goal is more related to spot 2, the "offsite spot".
There is a second 02 Joggler (and one SB radio that found its main location now) connected to the LMS running on this same Joggler.
This Joggler is the one running LMS 7.8.0 that comes with the 3.03 openframe OS.
It also features the weather display wonderfully, with other weather information, as it is running from a different location ;-)
I would like to upgrade this LMS 7.8.0 to 7.9.3 or above. (Any version hosting material skin natively)

The reason I would like the material skin to be on the LMS at this "offsite spot" is to be able to use 2 safari browser based devices as remote control for the joggler and the SB radio.
Then I would be able to run this from the safari browsers: http://IP-address-from-LMS-server-on-jo ... /material/
I don't need the material skin on the display of the O2 joggler itself.
No need for bionic or stuff like that. I hope. Am I right?
