We've had the same box for years - A technisat Freesat - has a good tuner. The weak part here is the dish (1.8m) and the lnb which has had years of blazing sun in the summer and freezing cold in the winter!

We had copper phone wire internet for years until Orange couldn't keep it running for more than a few days at a time. Switched to wifi signal which works well. Most urban areas here now have fibre.

Here main television (for WAF) is still satellite although have cable, network, OTA TV here.

That said I do have a Nexus satellite card in my mythTV box and use two HDHomerun boxes with that stuff for play.

Well and I personally do not ever watch live television rather just recordings or streams these days.

One big block to internet tv is the failure of broadcasters to adopt a coherent standard - and their inabilty to not fix it if it ain't broke ....

Yup; still too new here.

That said the broadcasting industry here kicked and screamed (they had a fit) when mandated to go to HD television. Why fix something that ain't broken?

Cable / satellite / Fiber Television went to charging a premium for HD even though it is standard today to pay for their updates.

That said OTA broadcasters now have multiple free channels and encrypted paid channels these days here in the US. As in the internet stuff it will probably be going to a paid a la carte per channel thing soon.

Many folks here are just shutting off regular television cable and satellite services and doing a la carte television these days.

Here only keep satellite for wife to record her cooking shows. I think she records every cooking show on every channel available these days.

I think I've got it , putty is the system , winscp is the files
When I look in etc as root in Win Scp I can't see a sources file :-(

Just re read everything and found it in etc/apt

Right so i re named the existing and put the file you posted in the folder as the new sources. Txt.

Hopefully I'm doing this right so then I came out of WinScp and opened up Putty , logged in as root , did sudo apt-get update
It just said reading package lists .....done but downloaded nothing , only took a second .

Okay - use putty to enter commands at the xommand line

WinSCP is essentially a file manager/editor

The sources.list file is in /etc/apt folder

Did you see line after line of repositories being checked?

the reason to do this is to keep refs to latest packages uptodate. Useful before you do a big package install.

When you install you'll see a lot of activity on screen - hopefully no error messages, and it should end by returning to the prompt.

It's really mis-named it doesn't actually update any packages. It just updates the 'package' library so when you install something it's more likely to be avaialable. You have to explicitly update individual packaes when you want to.

Just to say - if plex install goes wrong - I can't really help! Fixing a wonky linux install is for experts!

Yes - good to go - good luck. Hold back on the big package list until you see what the main install does.
