Neato mickchip!

It is a first for the Joggler!

Is this using the EFI boot on an O2 Joggler?

What's windows doing with the MAC address on the built in NIC?

Is it running off of a USB stick or a ZIF SSD?

This one is using a 16GB SSD usb stick in the internal port, another I have is using the pata port WITH 16GB SSD.
Both are using coreboot & seabios

Wow!

Very nice mickchip!

So you are using the originally posted coreboot/seabios with no mods to it?

How is the speed comparing it to the XP build?
pity touch is only a pointer and we can't use downscaling
This is really a minor issue compared to audio and network working.

On the XP builds (have a few doing TTS stuff) I just went to an Asix chipped USB connected NIC which is glued to the back of the Joggler and tapping an extra USB port inside.

What realtek NIC drivers are you using for this build?

How much space are you using for the OS?

yep, coreboot & seabios v0.6. Ethernet uses 8.1s own driver, wifi & audio are from the Mevi's XP. Speed is OK but I havn't tested much software as yet.
I have 10GB free ot of 14.9GB

Very nice!

I just read about Win reducer here:

http://www.winreducer.net/winreducer-81.html

Wondering if you will share your new build?

Excellent work mickchip B-)
Is there a tutorial as to how to get this working?
I followed the coreboot, seabios thread eagerly but got a bit lost off a bit.
Does windows 7 work ok on it,as well?

I have just had a test driver built for the touchscreen by Touch-Base & it works quite well, the test driver only gives you 50 clicks,
the bad news is the price of the fully opperational driver is £69.00 inc VAT.
Just couldn't justify paying that much, thought I'd let you know incase any of you have that kind of cash to spend on one driver.
Here's a link to the driver.

http://touch-base.com/download.asp

in the Touchscreen Controller field select "OpenPeak, Hyup02, USB" and select the driver required.

I've never done this before but I have created a private torrent for my win8.1 build
to make a WINtoGO stick use AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition 5.5 this makes it very easy.
I will seed this for 1 week. (if it works)
I must add that you need coreboot / seabios to run Windows 8.1
Sorry couldnt get that to work, here's the winreducer wccf file instead.

Has the coreboot/seabios method got a write up anywhere? I looked on the original thread and the blog about it but cant see any.
I mainly use tapatalk for forums so apologies if I missed it :$

Attached are the original EFI boot ROM from the O2 Joggler and the Coreboot/Seabios ROM.

Note that this ROM resides on the removable 1 Mb flash chip which is on the O2 Joggler and the Openframe 1.0 device.

I use it today with the Openframe 7 device also.

That said the Openframe 7 device does not have a removable or replaceable EFI boot ROM; is is soldered into place.

Its not an easy fix should something happen to the soldered in EFI boot chip on the Openframe 7 device.

Procedures to update or restore ROMs is as follows:

1 - Original O2 Joggler with updated OS to Seabios/coreboot ROM.

A - unzip attached and copy the two files to a USB stick. They are very small so you can utilize one of those old 256Mb or sticks or whatever you happen to have around.
B - two files are in two directories; IE: one directory is called JogglerRom and the other is called Seabios.
In these two directories are files named: upgrade.rom which is the legacy EFI Joggler boot ROM and the other is named coreboot.rom. copy the coreboot.rom file to the root of the USB stick.
C - plug the USB stick into the Joggler with the upgraded OS
D - SSH to the Joggler and do the following:

Code: Select all

# cd /mnt
# ls
# coreboot.rom
# modprobe fh
# dd if=/mnt/coreboot.rom of=/dev/fh count=1 bs=1024k
# reboot
E - you will now be booting via the coreboot.rom - (v.06 SeaBIOS (version 1.7.0)) - there will be a little icon of a shark on the bottom right hand side of the screen when booting and prompts for hitting the F7 key or F16 key. Note that the F16 key is really the F12 key.
F - at this point read the Joggler XP wiki relating to creating a boot USB stick with XP on it. If you are utilizing a ZIF SSD drive then you can install XP SP3 on the SSD drive via a USB connected boot ISO disk with no modifications for booting said drive.

2 - CoreBoot / Seabios ROM back to original Joggler EFI boot ROM

A - note the BIOS prompts when rebooting; IE: F7 or F16. Hitting the F7 (bios upgrade) key on your keyboard will look at the root drive for a file named upgrade.rom. I have named the original attached rom same said name such that you can restore the O2 EFI boot ROM back using this file. Hitting the F12 key will provide a multi choice boot menu say if you have a CD rom plugged into your Joggler.

Pete
I have made a zipped image that can be unzipped and either dd'd or use windiskimager to write to an 8GB SSD or usb stick.
It's 2.7GB, if you want me to ftp it let me know how to go about it.
The actual installed size is about 4.7GB
On my joggler this is a fully working image with sound, ethernet & wireless.

Hello MickChip,

Thank-you.

I am at around 3 Gb of free space right now on my Dropbox account.

Might work in 500Mb chunks.

That said if you send me a PM with some email account and I send you an dropbox request to join; that will up my account to 3.5 Gb.

I can leave there for you to share it until you want to delete it?

Pete

I have set up another torrent on my pc and I think it's working, try it and let me know if it's working.
Again this will only work if you have coreboot & seabios on your joggler.
Torrent now removed

Thanks Pete , the instructions look great but I need a bit of time to try this .
I haven't tried ssh yet so I need to do some research I think :-)
It looks complicated to a layman like myself but will give it a go ...
I will be needing the above win 8.1 image at some point as well guys .
Cheers
