Xbmc x86 for Android fail

Post by hawsey »

Hi all,
I know we already have great ports of XBMC on the joggler thanks to BuZz ,
however (even though I know video won't work ) I noticed a newish port of XBMC for Android x86 on the XBMC forums so I tried it on the Joggler ISC latest image and although it tries to install , it crashes on startup .
I posted on this thread about it

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?pi ... pid1613229

I posted a debug log ( a first for me ) which showed
Death on GLES on startup .
It seems there is no support for GLES on the Joggler android ports , I am sure there are good people on here that know what that means , but to me it just says that it won't work he he .
Never mind worth a try .:-)
Happy Joggling

Basically means there is no accelerated graphics support available so it craps out.
From: http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Supported_hardware
XBMC needs a 3D capable GPU graphics hardware controller for all rendering.
This is the Achilles heel of our Jogglers, the Intel GMA500 Poulsbo chipset and it's proprietary gpu core, which means limited driver support and poor graphics performance will make most alternative operating system installs (that aren't based on the released licensed code of a couple of years ago), perform poorly, if at all! My efforts to get Android JB booting fully didn't get past this issue.
