Please help with Squeezeserver configuration

Post by pete »

Here have been updating / redoing many (well all now) of my Ubuntu 14.04 boxes to Ubuntu 16.04.

I run the Squeeze server on the MythTV box here.

The update to MythTV totally trashed it (more DB related) so I built it from scratch.

Concurrently here install Squeezeserver V79 (most current one).

Squeezeserver appears to be running fine except

It doesn't see my music on a NAS drive.

That said I did the following relating to my music.

1 - created a /media/music directory
2 - changed fstab to auto mount the directory

IE:

//ipofnas/music /media/music/ cifs username=name,password=password 0 0

3 - I can see all of my music via ssh after I manually mount the entry in fstab

IE: sudo mount -a

And after I reboot.

4 - That said when I go to the Squeezebox server to the same directory; it doesn't see it and I cannot put my music in the squeezebox configuration.

Discovering playlists: /media/music (0 of 0) Complete 00:00:04

Log shows:

Curious why I see this. I know I have posted about this here before. Personally here put in /media/music but Sqeezebox doesn't see that music directory under /media which doesn't make sense to me.

What am I doing wrong here?
Please help.

You need to go to Settings-Basic Settings - set a Media Library name - then add /media/music to both Media folders and Playlist folder - then do a full Claer Library scan under Rescan Media Library. Don't forget to hit Apply.

Thank you castalla.

Done that. Same errors. Last time I change something in the mounted directory such that LMS saw it. I know it's a rights issue from LMS to the directory.

Code: Select all

ICS-MythTV:/media/music# ls

Fixed it. Installing LMS via a posted script doesn't give any rights to the user lms.

Looked and found my old post here with the same issue.

Did it totally different.

First tried this:

sudo chmod -R 666 /media/music

Didn't work. Just errors with the music directory.

Edited fstab such that it wouldn't mount the music directory, rebooted.

did this again

sudo chmod -R 666 /media/music

edited the fstab to mount the music directory.

rebooted (or you can just load all of the fstab stuff via command line).

and it worked.
