@Buzz
Did you ever hear back from the manufacturer?
Laptop battery explosion
Re: Laptop battery explosion
I have a laptop on loan, and my laptop is in Taiwan being looked at. Could take some more months for them to finish inspecting it.

BuZz, what was the outcome of this?
Re: Laptop battery explosion
Long process. Eventually reached an agreement for a replacement laptop and some money to pay for the damage, (and had to sign an agreement that Acer was not liable/at fault as part of the deal). So it was just a "goodwill gesture" on their part.
I got advice from a solicitor towards the end, as I was not happy in the progress. I think his advice in wording a letter helped. Before that there was months of going back and forth. At one point they tried to claim it was caused from an external heat source, which was very annoying (being a complete load of sh*t). They had the laptop at this point which didn't help matters as I couldn't send it off to some independent inspection.
