Re: Ubuntu 11.10 / Oneiric Ocelot

I think im going to do lubuntu (lxde) next with the lxlauncher - http://wiki.lxde.org/en/LXLauncher - ive heard lxde is slimmer than xfce and the launcher looks like it will do the job. Sounds good - I run Lubuntu on my old Pentium 3 laptop and it's really smooth. The old thing can even use iPlayer...

Re: Reflashing Tool for the O2 Joggler

New version of this is up! It should hopefully resolve any issues people have been having with the wired network connection. Now uses BuZz's MAC address generating script and clears out config files after booting, so you should be able to use the same stick on multiple Jogglers without seeing the ne...

Re: XBMC on Joggler - tweaks and suggestions

Its not only xbmc that benefits either, You will find the whole linux experience improves I can 'third' that - setting 'thermal.psv=80' should be the first thing anyone does after popping one of BuZz's builds on a USB stick. BTW, I agree with BuZz not making this a default; you never know when some...

Re: Squeezeplay Only

No plans on using the Alarm, I just want something I can leave on so my Wife can use it and not find that it's crashed or has no sound. Thanks for your reply and all the time you've put into working on this project. If reliability is your goal, definitely run it on Ubuntu or Joli OS. I run Joli OS ...

Re: Writing disk images on OSX

So what you are saying is that the block size won't make any difference to the final image? What's the difference between 10m and 10M? Is is megabytes vs megabits? Why would I not be able to boot the recent images when I had no problems with the old ones? Nope, as I understand it the block size is ...

Re: Screen corruption on boot, original OS

I've flashed it back to factory, but its still there. Did you reflash using my (birdslikewires) reflash tool, by any chance? It has nothing to do with the screen corruption, but I've been after success reports from users with 'OpenPeak' booting Jogglers, just because I don't have one to hand to tes...

Re: Writing disk images on OSX

There seem to be so many ways of doing this. The important bit seems to the bs value but I don't know which to use for which image and I don't know if the count option is needed at all. The bs (block size) value is not essential, but can speed up the copying dramatically. It just sets how large the...

Re: SqueezeBox server, Music from NAS (Samba), which way?

If I was going to do this, I'd do it the way you mention (except I'd use Joli OS these days, just because I prefer the interface). Ubuntu, SBS from apt-get, SqueezePlay and an NFS share from the NAS.

If you're getting package errors like that, I'd point straight to the USB stick.

Can't help you on the mainboard, but please resell the components rather than popping it in the bin. There are only so many Jogglers out there - it would be a shame to waste the parts.

Re: Writing disk images on OSX

This should work: gzip -dc <name of image file> | sudo dd of=/dev/diskX bs=10m Where diskX is the drive number reported by diskutil list . disk0 is likely your boot drive, so please don't point dd at that. For some reason writing to /dev/diskX is slower than writing to /dev/rdiskX. I don't know why.

Re: Squeezeplay Only

Another vote for the Birds Like Wires install on the native O/S - works beautifully for me, I've not bothered to auto start it though. If I install over the P'n'P version will I have any problems? I *think* that the BLW install script detects it and works it all out but I expect that roobarb! will ...

Re: Windows Server 2003 so far

Thank you all for info, the electric current is not just on arm but runs through back, legs etc You can also hear it as well. I'm using original Openpeak plug, good to know its harmless hopefully! Re: Boxee for ubuntu

The only thing Boxee does for me is lead to a blank screen. When killed from the command line, the Boxee flickers up onto the screen for a second or two (with some horizontal banded lines) and then we drop back to the desktop. So far as I know, Boxee is actually based on XBMC. BuZz is the XBMC speci...
