Re: Network name for Joggler

Ben wrote:Any ideas?
I can, and have, set the name in my router's "Home Network" settings. Alternatively you could try editing '/etc/hostname' on the Joggler. I don't know whether that does, in fact, work with the Joggler firmware.

Re: New OpenPeak firmware update (30th April 2012)

There is some weird behaviour going on. I think it may have started today, or last night. I had no problem yesterday telnetting into my newly upgraded Joggler. It's just the nvram setting that is being changed, the telnet daemon is not being stopped. But of course it will, when the upgrade is appli...

Re: Enabling Telnet access post May update..

I've just noticed the same thing.

http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/viewto ... t=60#p9670

I think you may need to put a 'bootable' system onto a USB stick, and then set up ssh or telnet on the Joggler's flash onto a more permanent basis.

Re: New OpenPeak firmware update (30th April 2012)

I have noticed that ensuring telnet access is available by setting nvram's 'net.login' to 'YES' can no longer be relied upon. I am finding that, after a few minutes, the nvram setting is being mysteriously reset to 'NO', behind my back. I've never noticed this behaviour before, and it applies to eac...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Native, Ubuntu & sqpOS)

I've not felt that the responsiveness has been particularly laggy, but if you do come up with any improvements I'm more than happy to try them out! 'Slow' was probably a poor choice of word to apply to responsiveness. I find the responsiveness under X11 to be fine, except that the 'flick' action se...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Native, Ubuntu & sqpOS)

Just posted SqueezePlay OS, which some of you might be interested in. :) Does it use X11 for the user interface ? User input seems somewhat 'slow' under X11, with touch screen events delivered typically 30/40ms apart. I suspect that the target device (Squeezebox Touch) delivers them up rather more ...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

Thanks for that, mrw - really helpful. Going to try out your alternative asound.conf now. With the other options, where exactly would you specify those includes? In /etc/asound.conf or in /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf - or somewhere else? And how does that make it specific to SqueezePlay (or, more corr...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

The chipmunks are back in town! Hehe, yes - they are! It was a deliberate choice, actually. The simple asound.conf file gives you chipmunks, but it never fails. There have been some reports of the asound.conf using the mixer (shown in loaded's post above) results in audio dropouts after SqueezePlay...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

Oh, and regarding the sound card enablement, the post I got the instructions from in this thead (by MRW) also posted a potentially cleaner / better way of enabling it: # Coerce my soundcard into turning itself on amixer -q -c 0 sset 'Master',0 unmute ./jive Both methods seemed to work for me, maybe...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

so it seems tunein removed their service in China can I still add direct steaming url in squeezebox server? Sounds like they have already made an 'arrangement'. Perhaps the list of available stations will increase as and when they become white-listed. 'Favorites' has nothing to do with TuneIn Radio...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

anything I can do except proxy? Well, you can hope that the Chinese government, or an over-zealous clerk in the Department of Internet Affairs, comes to see the error of their ways. In the meantime I think you may need to rely on local knowledge to steer you through. I have no idea how pervasive th...

You can tell the Squeezebox server to use a proxy in Server Settings|Advanced|Network.

I've no idea about ipv6.

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

I used this to set the timezone: ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/London /etc/localtime Looks good to me ! On second thoughts, it doesn't, because it won't survive a reboot. Look in '/etc/init.d/boot.d/S14boot.time' for why, the localtime file is stored in nvram and reset on boot. Verify for yours...

I used this to set the timezone: ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/London /etc/localtime Looks good to me ! On my Debian Squeeze system, '/etc/localtime' is a copy of the relevant zoneinfo file, and there is a symbolic link back from the zoneinfo directory. In effect Debian seems to do this: cp /us...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

I run 3 Jogglers with Squeezeplay on. Two of them work great. The third in my kitchen seems to have a few quirks, namely: <snip> - The clock didnt update this morning I'll hazard a guess that the third Joggler's Timezone in the O2 Settings|Date & Time is set to GMT, while the other two are set ...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

On the Native OS (using the basic asound.conf file) these streams play back chipmunk style. I had the same chipmunk issue yesterday on the Native OS with the Radio 1 stream. Only a couple of times, though. This is when playing through the Joggler's own audio hardware. If you drill into the 'TuneIn ...
