Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

I have a Joggler running Buzz's Xubuntu sitting next to my bed and it's connected to the internet by lan. I'm wondering if it's possible to use the Jogglers wifi as an accesspoint? Yes you can - and it is a good little project too. Plus it can happily run in the background, so you can continue to u...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Before I do a final release, please could people try out http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/img/xubuntu_14.04-v1.2-ext4.img.gz (md5sum - 7364d2857f13f5f8d341e34785c5380d) Changes from previous image: * Some package changes/pinning to fix some dependency issues * Includes Kodi 14.2 (With the Re-touched s...

Re: Xubuntu 14.04: Any way to *permanently* set default sess

Seems to be a bit of a PITA ! I just use one account - would that work for you ? I seem to recall that you can auto login as one account (on boot?), would that take priority over last being logged in under a different account ? All you'd need to do then is to switch accounts when logged in. Not trie...

Alternative power supplies

I have a few of the betting shop jogglers so am in need of power supplies. I've seen the prices being asked for supplies that are comparable to the original open peak, and they are somewhat expensive, I think. For what I'd like to use a Joggler for the current that should be drawn, should not exceed...

Re: Heeeelp !!

What did you try ? What happened ? Hawsey gave you some good advice. No matter what your capabilities are, people here will try to help and in a good way. Our population is not increasing (AFAIAA), so it down-heartening to see your decision. I hope they will go to good homes. Or maybe keep one and l...

Re: Heeeelp !!

Hi It is worth having a go to make a bootable stick yourself. I understand that you have had a go and it doesn't boot. You see, even if I send you a stick that I've tested and boots on some of my Jogglers, it may not boot on yours, because of say the hub you are using or even which port of the hub t...

Re: Heeeelp !!

I'm not that close to Bath, however, would you consider this : * You post a USB stick to me * I put a Joggler image onto it and test it - I'd prefer to do BuZz's XUbuntu 14.04, as I have been using this for some time and I know it is good and works extremely well. You could have a different image if...

Re: Joggler Power Consumption

A way to lower power usage is to have the brightness as low as can be. If your not running X - say just have ubuntu base - then the backlight on the screen stays on. For some reason - I have not found out why - X is able to turn off the Joggler screen back leds. Of the components in the joggler the ...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Has anyone recently downloaded and unzipped any of the Xubuntu 14.04 images? I did about a month ago with no issue, but my colleague cannot get one to download and successfully unzip. I just pulled the xubuntu_14.04-v1.1-f2fs.img.gz image down myself and can no longer unzip it. It errors out with E...

These have been discussed here and this looks like a good offer, but you'll need to act quick to get it, me thinks... SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3, 32GB. £9.99 each or 2 for £18.99. http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sandisk-32gb-ultra-fit-usb-3-0-flash-drive-130mb-s-mymemory-9-99-2-for-18-99-2099253?utm_so...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

I've not tested them for a while (they are built automatically along with the other images), so they could just be broken. I'll check when I get a chance. Thanks BuZz. If you need any information from me, please let me know here. I haven't really used the images that much and it is a new adventure ...

ubuntu f2fs images

I've been using the ext4 images for some time and they have performed extremely well, particularly to power-off without shutdown situations. However, I've read some good things about f2fs and how it compares to some of the other popular file systems : http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?78...

This may be of limited help as I don't really use WiFi on my joggler's and I cannot recall using network manager to do network connections... Anyway, these two links may be helpful : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessTroubleShootingGuide http://askubuntu.com/questions/461825/connect...

Re: Need a simple bell application for mother in hospice

I did quite a bit of research on this, partly out of personal interest to discover an area previously unexplored and partly to help the OP, who had a need for help. As the OP didn't come back and due to moving onto to other things, I didn't share my discoveries. Nothing really astounding, but I have...

Re: Need help with bricked (?) Joggler

Jogglers that have had their internal flash used for 4/5 years now will be at a high risk of failing. Personally, I think jogglers still have a good life ahead of them; it is just a matter of accepting their weaknesses and working with that. I think the forum will see more people asking for help wit...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

BuZz, Just wanted to let you know that I have been using the Xubuntu 14.04 ext4 image for a while now and it has been working really well. The one issue I've had and I know you have commented on many times before, is the Joggler halting on shut down due to the screen driver crashing. I've found that...

Re: Ubuntu / Xubuntu for the O2 Joggler.

Pete Adding a small real time clock and battery to the I2C bus is exactly what I'd like to do too ! I've done quite a bit of research on this, and intended on sharing this here, but haven't done it yet. I've just got myself a cheap logic analyzer, so I'd like to have a poke around on the Joggler fir...
