Re: Jolicloud 1.1 for the O2 Joggler

Joli OS v1.2 (renamed from jolicloud). is now available for the joggler. As it is using a new kernel as with my other new builds, there may be a few bugs (I saw an xorg crash during testing that I'm keeping an eye on, but mostly it seems fine) changes: * New version of Joli OS (v1.2) - see http://ww...

Re: Jolicloud 1.1 for the O2 Joggler

http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/jolicloud/ contains jolicloud for the joggler - ie. it is made to run on the joggler from a usb stick etc. there are additional tweaks you can make detailed under instructions on that page also. Cheers

Re: Jolicloud 1.1 for the O2 Joggler

There are instructions on how to write it to a usb stick on the main jolicloud page if that's what you mean.

Re: USB Partition

should be instant. if its not doing anything ctrl+c it. and do "parted /dev/sda print" and make sure you have a partition 3 before rebooting. I will double check the commandline now. [edit] try doing it like OFFSET=`sudo parted -m /dev/USBDEVICE unit s print | grep ^3 | cut -d: -f 2` sudo ...

Re: Jolicloud 1.1 for the O2 Joggler

a lot of the problem is just the accuracy of the touchscreen - and most likely hardware related. I find jolicloud much more touch friendly than plain ubuntu though for example.

Re: Jolicloud 1.1 for the O2 Joggler

Just to note that jolicloud 1.2 is due out this week according to the jolicloud blog.

I can't say whether updating on the Joggler will be safe - I shall keep you posted.

Re: Squeezebox Touch for 153.00GBP

Yes, I alternate between Ubuntu & the native OS but I found that the native OS was a bit quicker & more finger-friendly. I have a right-angled USB lead so the size of the memory stick (I use an SD card in a card reader) isn't an issue. Jolicloud would have been almost as good if Squeezeplay...

Re: Squeezebox Touch for 153.00GBP

I guess that's not too bad a deal. In regards to the joggler - why not just use a tiny usb stick or microsd adapter. with the microsd adapter you would hardly see em (also with some usb sticks only stick out a few mm). I use a usb stick that sticks out maybe 1.5cm but its looks quite ok to me. I don...

Still building images currently but if anyone wants to test a new image with the new brtfs + lzo compression

http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/img/ubunt ... com.img.gz

PS. the images are built on this server, that has rather poor disk io, so sorry if I slow the forum down a bit ;-)

if you are running ext4 do "sudo touch /forcefsck" and it should check on the next boot.

Did you shutdown cleanly? perhaps something crashed. Might also be worth doing a filesystem check.

Re: Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick ) for the O2 Joggler.

Bit of an odd one here, BuZz - I've got a Joggler that won't accept the MAC address given to it by your startup script. The /etc/network/joggler-eth file has one MAC address (00:92:08:ca:6a:f4), but the one reported by ifconfig is completely different (da:be:df:2e:36:98). If I issue: ip link set et...

Re: Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick ) for the O2 Joggler.

I'm trying to set up openssh server on my Joggler's Ubuntu 10.10 so that I can copy files over via winscp. I installed it with Synaptic and had a look in the config file but cannot see how to set a password or how to allow winscp to connect. I'm sure I'm missing something blindingly obvious. Can an...

Re: Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick ) for the O2 Joggler.

It's not that your settings are wrong, but since the Joggler doesn't seem to like it, you could tweak it perhaps and see if changing them helps - for example experimenting with encryption modes / wireless b/g or just g / changing the channel / making non hidden ssid. the wifi should have a mac addre...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

Sorry for taking it offtopic :) (I guess I started it!) I'm no electronics expert but I don't think the flash in the joggler is any more robust than a sdcard etc. And perhaps even less so than a usb stick for example as some of them have some sort of write wear levelling I believe, whereas the Joggl...

Re: SqueezePlay for Joggler (Standalone Native and Ubuntu)

Look forward to the results. Perhaps I should try it again also. do you run ext4 with the journal? and do you use microsd or a usb stick ? (I believe write levelling on microsd is poor or non existant as I've seen someone else who them fail quite quickly also - but it might not be as straight forwar...
