Re: Coreboot and SeaBIOS
I googled gPXE which is a bootloader that enables PCs without a PXE BIOS/NIC to boot over LAN. Suppports Linux booting. Ah yes, without bootrom on the NIC then gPXE would be the way to go, we used to use a suite of old laptops with PCMCIA NIC cards with custom install of gPXE (or whatever it used t...

Re: Coreboot and SeaBIOS
Been following this thread with interest for a while now (well ok not so interested in booting windows, but hey!), What interests m eis the possibility to use PXE boot to load the OS to the Joggler, from network connected computer. This obviates the need for use of any internal/external storage so c...

He also lurks here but I can't ermember his username right now..

Re: Interesting blog
I am here already, I just haven't posted much. There's not a lot of end-user useful stuff to report yet; the blog is for people who like reading about stuff being developed. :) I'm using rEFIt temporarily because it gives me easy access to the EFI shell and choosing what bootloader to start, but it...

Re: Mijuu-based JazzMod ICS v1.0 (Working Market! - LINK UP)
Had a quick blast of Mijuu's latest alpha, there is only 3 differenced in the actual files: grub.cfg; lang=EN is *removed*, ramdisk.img, system.img (unknown changes). I just replaced the changed .img files and booted. No touchscreen. Maybe something else in there I missed....

Re: VOIP, Asterisk, 3CX etc etc
You could see if you canget Voyage One to boot on a Joggler, it's primary use is networking, but the One version has Asterisk, and there is an MPD version also. They are designed to run on Alix boards which have no GPU so run headless, so if you aren't familliar with ssh and command line, you may be...

Re: speed of your broadband?
Bit slower during the mornings when our network (Bristol Wireless) is busy, but our uplink is pretty respectable! B-) I have had bursts of 16Mb/s and our Debian repo syncs often top 10Mb/s during the night..

Android 4 coming to Motorolas new Intel Atom based phones
As the first details and images appear of Motorola's new Intel Medfield (Atom) chipset based smart phones, which will ship with Android 4 - Ice Cream Sandwich, is it safe to say that Android is likely to become a favorite OS to run on our Jogglers in the near futuer? The Mijuu based recent releases ...

Re: Mijuu-based JazzMod ICS v1.0 (Working Market! - LINK UP)
For all you budding digital DJ's out there, check out DJ Controller from Market, uses midi over wifi to control your DJ mix app on your computer, works pretty good, although Joggler doesn't seem to support multi-touch, but it's a lot easier than using the touchpad or mouse!! 8-) http://a.yfrog.com/i...

Re: Mijuu-based JazzMod ICS v1.0 (Working Market! - LINK UP)
I'm liking this release so far and apart from the lack of support for Flash on Android x86 and no GPU acceleration (thanks to Intel Poulsbo chipset), everything works nicely! One thing I found odd was that when connected to my wireless home network, the wlano interface has 3 IP secondary addresses, ...

Disappointing especially as Unity is afaik, designed for small/touch screens. I think a bug report would be appropriate!

Plop boot manager
I'm wondering if Plop boot manager could be useful for trying out various distros on the Joggler, but without having to hack the Efi boot loader? http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager.html Plop can add support for USB/CDROM/Network boot in hardware that doesn't support it! You can load Plop from pretty ...

Re: Pre-installed XBMC/Squeezeplay on Ubuntu ?
My take (although I voted for both XBMC & Squeezeplay) is that it very much depends on the size of USB drive you are using. Anything less than an 8gig drive (well we have to be talking about 4gig+ as the minimum possible for install), struggles with disk space. So the real question could be &quo...

Re: Ubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Well I'm not gonna argue with Phoronix or their naysayers, but what I do know it that Ubuntu haven't been aiming their distro at the mobile market, until now, and they have a long way to go until the kernel/system is optimized for running in a lean and mean fashion on lower spec hardware. That said,...

Re: Ubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
Not got round to trying the latest beta yet, but having just read this Phoronix article about a major power usage regression apparent in Natty 11.04: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux_mobile_uffda&num=1 Not good news for those wanting a cool efficient Linux system runn...

Re: Ubuntu for the O2 Joggler.
The Natty Ext4 img page is missing - there an update in the offing? Keen to try Unity on the Joggler... link is fixed. Only unity 2d will work btw due to graphics driver issues. Loads to desktop but hangs error report window at which point system becomes unresponsive - this is with you linked Natty...

Re: Extending the LVDS cable
Seen some pix over on the hi-pda forums before - they have a Joggler section:
http://www.hi-pda.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=62&
it's all Chinese but if you are using Chrome/Chromium it will translate (roughly) enough to get the idea anyway..
